Woohoo!!! Got my second line. They either added it yesterday, or today (or perhaps late Friday!), as I checked Friday morning and it wasn't there.

"We started processing your application on December 12, 2013."

So by looking at the trends, will hopefully get our MR's this week. I'm hoping anyway. We're going to be away mid-January for 2 weeks, so I'm hopeful we can get out medicals done before then. Will just have to call around all the approved physicians in our area and see who can do it asap. I do realize though that the holidays may slow things down.

If there's no one that can do it here before we go, is there anything stopping us doing medicals in Scotland (where we're going) while we're there? I believe as long as it's an approved physician, it doesn't matter... If that were the case, would that make anything slower? Just wondering if the physician needs to mail anything, that'd take longer and more chance of going missing. Or is it all done electronically? Obviously would rather do them here, but just thinking of backups.

Regarding passport requests, does everyone get them, or do they only select certain applications? Just hoping that stage doesn't fall between trips (we have a few early 2014!). If it's at a really awkward time, is there anything that can be done to speed it up? i.e. dropping them off at the visa office, picking them up, etc.?

Some hypothetical questions, but may as well ask!

about the medical exam: as long as it's on the list of approved physicians, it doesn't matter where you do it.
I know a bunch of people ( working in Canada with work permit) who did it during visits to their home countries and didn't seem to cause any delay at all, especially if the results were submitted via EMedical, there's really no difference ( except for the price they charge)

3.Payment of Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) for yourself and your spouse

Yep we're in Canada on a TWP at the moment.

That's good news that it shouldn't be a problem doing it that way, if we can't get any booked before we go back home for a visit. There's one in the city we'll be going to, but would need to check if they could do EMedical. Will make sure I check that, whether it's for here or there.

Going on what seems to be happening, should hopefully get MR by tomorrow. Is it worth calling any of the panel physicians just now and tentatively booking in on the assumption we get it? Or just play it safe and wait?

Any particular time of day the MR's usually arrive, or could it be anytime really?

Same here, entered Canada a year ago on TWP and got PR exactly 1 year later -- It seems pretty fast for my case, but I have seen those who applied after this May got approved within 5 months. Seems like CIC is working on clearing the backlog so they can start the EOI system in 2015

Not sure about when your MR is expected to come, but it definitely doesn't hurt to book an appointment with the doctor, some of them requires the IME(?) number on your MR form, some of them don't, and they charge different amount of money( the quote I got in Toronto ranged from 185 to 280), so it's good to start calling them early, especially during this time of the year when many of them will go on vacation soon. When I made my appointment back in August, the earliest spot I could get was nearly 2 weeks from the day I called.

Finally got the appointment for 19th Dec at Kitchener, since these are panel physicians approved by CIC and medical procedure are done and uploaded the result electronically.

I may start calling and seeing who is available.

I plan to start with the closest to where we stay, see when they're available, and then get progressively further out until I find someone with a good timeline, lol. I'm willing to travel!

How long do they typically take anyway? Just wondering how much time I'll need to get off work (also depends which physician!), if it's an hour, half day, full day, etc.

I did mine there, when I called and told them I didn't have IME yet but expected to get it soon, they told me to call back as soon as I got it, and when I did, they squeezed me in for an appt on the spot that's only 3 days away. And they only charge $185, it took 2 weeks for the result to get posted but only because they closed the clinic for a week the day after my appointment, otherwise it've have taken only a week

Also, which physician did you go with in Kitchener? I'm hoping not to have to go that far, but it's an option if needed. I see there's two.
