according to the guide 3900:
The Right of Permanent Residence Fee, which will be requested by CIC at a later stage if your application is approved.

Note. We strongly recommend paying the Right of Permanent Residence Fee along with your processing fees. By doing so, it will reduce the processing time of your application

My question is, did you pay the RPRF outright at the start of your SPOUSAL VISA APPLICATION? or did you wait for the request?

I want my application to go as smoothly as possible, with little to no delays if at all. Im worried though, if i pay now, at the start of my application, what happens to the money if *god forbid* the application was denied?

Feedback greatly appreciated

We paid everything at once. I've read that it saves some time later because you don't have to start paying it and sending receipts.
I'm not sure how they deal with the money if the app is denied. Maybe someone smarter can help with that. I'm just trusting it can't be denied, so I don't worry about it. :)

Hi there drlexigray

I did not pay it upfront not because I did not want to but because at the time I did not have the extra cash needed!
My apps are not yet to the stage where I can tell you that they have caused me a delay but I am sure at the end they will. This is according to many people here in this forum!
Of course I will try to pay it asap as to avoid any delays!
My suggestion to you is to go ahead and pay it upfront!

Good luck to you!

The consensus is that you should pay all your fees up front. Anything which means a delay is not caused is the way forward. Good luck with your application.

We paid ours up front with the application. If you wait until it is requested, it could delay your application several weeks while the payment, which gets processed in Mississauga, gets forwarded to the Visa Office.

If for some reason your application is denied, CIC will refund this payment to you.

I waited until they requested for me to pay it and they also requested 2 new immigration photos.

I paid it about 3 weeks ago. still haven't heard from them yet?

How long did it take for those people who paid it later to hear something back from the embassy?

Paid everything at once, since we were going to have to pay it anyway might as well avoid added delays.

Anywhere from 3-4 months.

I paid it right away to save time ..but if u were tight on cash its alright try to send it before they ask u for it ... good luck

If you're tight on cash, CIC has loans for the RPRF. I highly suggest this so that you can not cause any delays.

wow 3 - 4 months seems like a lot to process 1 fee.

better to pay for it sooner I guess!

Hi all

Lets say our apps are in the beginning of the process (we still did not get SA or a client file - UCI)
Do you think is a good idea to pay it as soon as we get those so by the time our file goes to the VO they will have also the payment?

Thanks

Wait till you get the UCI THEN pay. Then it'll be easier for them to match up :)

hi drelexigray,
i will recoend you to pay all together i f you have enough fund, cic will take time to request you for payment and you will take time to send and when they received and posted to your file, i let you imagine how time it could take, so if you have the possibilities to pay, do it you would not loose anything.

Pay NOW! Don't wait for their request.
