Rental lease agreement-need advice please

Okay so I have been living with my husband since April 2014. Now before living with my husband he has been living in the same place for the last 5 years. Our landlord never had a lease agreement so I was thinking of getting one made and he agreed to sign it. Now it is my husband, myself and our roommate living in our place. How would I go about making one? It would look a bit obvious to have one made up for the date I moved in with him. Wouldn't they wonder why is there a lease just starting in 2014 and not the previous years?? Help please! How can I go about doing this??? This is the only joint documentation we are able to provide in our application because we do not have anything else in our names together so making this lease is the only option!!!

I suggest making two separate lease agreements:

1. Agreement between your husband and the landlord from when he first occupied the home. Make it a one year lease, that converted to month-to-month after that.

2. New agreement that has both of your names on it (forget about the roommate) from when you moved in with him.

You can find sample agreements/templates online (Google it).

For a married couple, the joint tenancy really isn't a requirement; it's more important for a common-law couple, because they have to prove that they've lived together.

Okay so should I even include a rental lease? We have no joint documentation....

Would you think a letter from our landlord stating that we have been living together will work instead of a rental lease??? And then j can just add that in proof of relationship???

If you can't get a rental agreement with both of your names on it the letter from your landlord works too. My partner and I didn't really have much documentations Roth both of our names on it so we had to ask for a lease renewal with both of our names on it.
