So, after four months, my spousal sponsorship application was rejected and returned to me. The stated reason, indicated by a was that the "sponsor must provide proof of Canadian status."
I believe CIC made an error, because I DID include a photocopy of my Certificate of Canadian Citizenship, which was actually in the document packet that they returned to me.
In the document checklist it clearly says to submit a PHOTOCOPY of one of four documents proving Canadian citizenship.
I can't understand what I did wrong, or how to remedy this. I did NOT submit the original or a certified copy. I also did not submit a Canadian passport (I use my american passport). I just used my Certificate of Canadian Citizenship, which I have had since I was born. My parents and all my relatives live in Canada, I just have spent most my life in the US and do not have a Canadian passport anymore.
Can I resubmit and get my place back in the queue if it is the mistake of CIC?
I am assuming I don't have to pay again?
