Yeah but they didn't come for mine. Said they were short on staff. So they just cleared the file after a telephonic conversation and sending proof of parents as well.

But the process was different in Delhi. They required signature of two neighbours. Not in Kolkata though.

I was really counting on OINP draw. I'm at 469.
No luck in EE draw, because of tie breaking rule.
No luck in OINP, because the range was 460 - 468.
I'm stuck in such a NARROW band. Can't believe it.

I had the exact same experience as you during the summer. Missed the first All program EE draw due to tie breaker, and missed in the same way as you the OINP tech draw, at 478. At this point, nobody knew if and when they were going to perform another All program draw, so it was pretty frustrating. I ended up getting a federal ITA after a month.
I think you should be on a good position for the next federal draw, either today or in a week from now.

Haha Yeah, compulsory There are some variations, but usually there is in-person verification.

Verify that the applicant really lives at that address and neighbours act as a witness. They ask a couple of questions about any criminal records, sometimes verify employment. Depends on the day

Oh wow! That stuff doesn't sound like it's part of a criminality check though, so I find this interesting. The South African PCC goes straight from the police to the EE profile, and it basically documents whether you a criminal record in this country. That's it.

PCC in India is also the same, I think the police verification mainly happens to verify the address that is mentioned in the passport is same as your current adress. If there is anything criminal on your record, it will be reflected in the PCC.

I also needed PCC from UAE, got it within 2 hours of applying which was neat.
