FYI, the Canadian government offers free French classes for permanent residents and citizens. Also, you can get paid to learn French full time if you move to Quebec after you get permanent residency. I don't know if you can do this if you were already in Quebec before getting residency. So there is no need to rush to learn French.

My original plan was to learn French through one of the free government funded classes after I get residency, but now I need to speed it up because French proficiency is the only way I can increase my CRS, outside of getting provincial nomination or a job offer with LMIA.

That's fantastic. I wasn't aware of free classes for permanent residents by Canadian government. By the way, my future employer organises free French courses for employees if I wanted to pursue one.

I'm really hoping for OINP to resume their services in order for you & most of us here to apply for PNP and get ourselves over the line. Also, being multilingual will always help other than the fact of boosting your CRS. :)

Hot & humid weather is a nightmare. Though my current country of residence has record breaking temperatures in the world.
The humidity is a killer , there is a limit to shed clothes, not to mention the eating is limited.
Winters are lovely. For living and guzzling down hot & spicy food.

Spare me the nightmares. I feel sick for even thinking about it. Winters are always blissful and I won't mind being a polar bear myself. :p

Nice to see I have company here in hating the heat and humidity. I just can't adjust to the humidity especially. I feel so lethargic and sometimes get heat rashes when it's hot and humid. Maybe eventually we all could have summer homes in the northern provinces. I also like to guzzle down hot and spicy food in the winter. My favorites are Indian, Mexican, and Thai, moderately spicy.

Not to forget, gas/electricity bill in winters will really take a toll on your 12k-13k, plus you won't be able to feast upon your desired delicious cuisines. However, you needn't worry if you're migrating with six digit figure. :D:D:D:D

Hello friends, wow you've done a good job here, reading whole 20 pages is very impressive, it means tomorrow will be big day - draw day! ;)
I saw and read some posts, there was a war btw some members, that's good to exchange, especially before draw day, but I found some posts very odd.
To sum up, even if you live in a country 10 or 15 years - do not compare your lifestyle to others, and try to say your opinion, give some good advice, be friendly, at any cost do not mention any nation to blame or to generalize (I'm Asian too). Hope we will be good friends, otherwise your time is limited here, and my best advice to those people is to try to find another thread, coz this is ROH!:)

My friends: @iamxty @ivancabrer @Karnesh
I imagine they are like this today :D:D:D and for tomorrow the one in the middle will be my nominated friend @ivancabrer :p;):D
One more time, so happy for you bro!

Great post (except the last paragraph). There is one more factor: people here perceive Canada as their dream country. How do they know that, if they've never been to Canada? By reading books and forum posts? I do not know if Vietnam or Kenya would be my dream country, I would have go over there and check it out first.

The truth here is that many posters here treat Canada as their destination country, and be it Canada or Australia, or the UK, that does not matter. In fact, I've read it many time that people here try Canada because they could not make it to the US.

I am against such blind immigration, that's devaluating this beautiful country, and treating it as a milk cow. If the government of Canada were smart they would add another CRS category with XX points: Canadian visa stamp in passport. That way more non-blind immigrants would be offered priority in the long waiting line. And I am saying it as a person who had declined permanent residency in the US, fully sponsored by the employer. I just see Canada as far more interesting country, no offense trumprefugee!

Hmmm Jonson. I would ordinarily not respond to your oftentimes negative posts especially since I am aware of your religious preference which I respect. However, there is a difference between airing your opinion and trying very hard to force it on people. You should have known by now that your views are not popular here not because they don't have their own substance but because the bulk of peeps here have chosen to be positive and optimistic rather than been overly realistic. Truth is we are all adults and I bet we all must have weighed our options before deciding on this journey. So some advice may not be acceptable to us especially if they don't have the ROH in it. I have personally gained so much strength and positivity that has helped me in moving my crs from 333 to 419 and also helped me in my daily life at work, family and other decision making.

My advise would be to allow is be delusional cos we love us that way.

You're the jesus of back-patters, I salute you and praise your resurrection.

You don't need to mention it, my name says it, but thanks, anyways. :D

OMG, hahaha. You're so good at trolling. :D:D:D

Oh no, I can't troll anyone here, my name alone says it! :D
I was being sincere with that question. If I can't afford a can/bottle of beer in that expensive country, then I will concede my Canadian dream. :p:D

Phewww, lot of posts to catch up.

I'm not learning French as of now but sooner or later, I'll have to start learning.

You should, especially if you are staying in Montreal.:)
