My concern with New Zealand's process is they seem to be harsh in evaluating foreign degrees. As I mentioned in another post, they seem to be evaluating American and Canadian master's degrees and also medical degrees only as equivalent to New Zealand bachelor degrees. With only a bachelor's equivalent, I would have only 135 points, but I would have 155 (still 5 points short of the current 160 point requirement) with master's equivalent.

I read a little more about Australia and New Zealand, and it seems that both countries do not have as many job opportunities as Canada, and New Zealand slightly fewer than Australia. The weather is also warm and can get pretty hot in both countries, which could be a plus for those of you coming from warmer climates. I prefer colder climates, so that's another positive for Canada for me.

I am permanent resident in both New zealand as well as Canada. The weather (and life style in New zealand is way more pleasent then Canada. Canada is hotter and colder than Nz. Even the pay rate.. i was making almost double money in NZ as compared to Canada.

The significant benfits of living in canada is cheap food and modern houses. Except these NZ are miles ahead of canada in every aspect.

1. OINP nominations have picked up pace lately. 29/day between 8-Aug and 11-Sep vs. 16/day between 10-Jul and 8-Aug. With 988 nominations left as of 11-Sep, the target quota will get exhausted as of 15-Oct at the current pace of issuance. Anyhow, these folks go right to the top of the pool ...in the 601-1200 bucket.

2. Offsetting that increase is the 451-600 bucket, where the numbers have been in decline (2216 as on 22-June, 1180 as on 27-July, 570 as of 30-Aug). These would be mostly folks finishing their Bachelors or Masters in Canada and those completing an additional year of Canadian work ex. Since these have been declining for a few months, most of those new graduates must have already received the ITA and new additions will be fewer.

I think the increase in 601-1200 is offset by decrease in 441-600 bucket.

3. No IELTS results since the last draw means the addition to the 430-450 bucket should not be as many. In any case, this bucket has also been declining. From a peak of 2584 as of 6-Jul, it has fallen to 1140 as of 30-Aug. Given the most recent draw was 435, the bucket has further reduced.

This tells me that 430-450 will decline, while 451-1200 may be flat. So overall pool quality should fall since the last draw. If the ITAs issued stay the same, the CRS cutoff should come down a few points (maybe 431-432). If however, the ITAs reduce further, then CRS cutoff may stay flat or will rise.

Another interesting facet is that because OINP has been frozen to new applications, even if it reopens soon, those applicants wouldn't come into the pool until Dec or Jan when they receive their nominations. Therefore 600-1200 bucket should start to fall a lot from mid Oct onwards. And therefore scores should start to fall into the 420s from then on. This is assuming that 2018 targets are atleast on par with 2017 (300,000 landed PRs), which is what the Minister has also said.
https://myimmitracker.com/en/ca/trackers/ontario-human-capital-priorities-stream-tracker

I was going through the Immitracker for OINP. It is interesting that between 9-Aug and 23-Aug, there were 28 entries for nominations received. Between 23-Aug and 6-Sep, there were 24 entries for nominations received. However, from 6-Sep to Present, there have only been 12 entries. So it is possible that OINP/PNP nominations received since the last draw have not picked up pace but may well have been stable or declined.

This would mean that even 601-1200 bucket [factor (1) above] may well be flattish rather than rising, which could help lower the CRS cutoff score in addition to the factors (2) and (3).

The caveat is that immitracker is obviously not exhaustive as not everyone who receives nomination updates his status there or updates right away.

FYI, the Canadian government offers free French classes for permanent residents and citizens. Also, you can get paid to learn French full time if you move to Quebec after you get permanent residency. I don't know if you can do this if you were already in Quebec before getting residency. So there is no need to rush to learn French.

My original plan was to learn French through one of the free government funded classes after I get residency, but now I need to speed it up because French proficiency is the only way I can increase my CRS, outside of getting provincial nomination or a job offer with LMIA.
You, My comrade are an embodiment of "never give up" attitude, I give you that.
I hope Mr Jon-son, should atleast learn that from you. obviously for his own benefits.

Oh no, I can't troll anyone here, my name alone says it! :D
I was being sincere with that question. If I can't afford a can/bottle of beer in that expensive country, then I will concede my Canadian dream. :p:D
Perhaps, we should really have that 6 figured deposit as one of our member says :p
