Haha, same here. No Facebook. Well, one dummy account because Tinder. Telegram was the first app to implement encryption and self destructing messages, you're right. But like I said, you have to go out of the way to actually secure all conversations individually. When you log in, unless you make those changes, only private chats are secured. People tend to forget that. Telegram is also Russian owned, so I don't know if I would trust it any more than Zuckerberg Hehe. I do love Telegram though, as it gives me practically unlimited cloud storage which I use happily.
Try out Wire, maybe you'll like it. Although convincing all of your contacts to move would be quite a task I imagine. Also, it's a bit slow due to all that intense security and multiple encryption per message.
