Hi,

What is the current status of discrimination based on races in canada?
Does it still exist in its any form ?

Thanks.

I can say being a immigrant that came here in the 70's. The racial discrimination is a lot less then in the 70' and 80's

Hello,

The answer to this question is highly subjective. I can only speak from personal experience and say that Canadians are probably the most tolerant people I have ever met. I am an Anglo living in Quebec and I have never even experienced any animosity due to my accent or lack of perfect French.

Canadian discrimination is more rampant than ever. How?

The Canadian government does a very, VERY good job to mask rampant discrimination. By making it difficult for foreign professionals to acquire high-paying.

I guess it all depends but from my own personal experience. I never encounter discrimination from my workplace. As an RN that completed degree from homeland, it's recognized by BCIT as degree equivalent here. I am into leadership role.

Examples of these high paying jobs or are we referring to the so called 'Canadian experience' discrimination which could apply to any new immigrant regardless of race ?

Except Canadian experience, I don,t see much discrimination in Canada.

I Believe,
If canada have racial discrimination than it is not multination and multi culture.
and they will not open huge doors for every country to get PR :o

Every place has racial discrimination, let's not deny it.

Especially since the refugee crisis, how many of you hear things like "more crime in our area because of refugee?" or "immigrants took our job"? If you are in the prairies that's even more prominent (tho it's more a blame to the government, not the refugee. We hate Liberals and the Trudeau name here)

As for Canadian experience bias, it's not considered as "discrimination" because you are judged for your skills applied to your job, not your skin color. Although workplace discrimination does exist, it's not the same. Don't confuse that with actual racism.

I assume author is asking if whites are racists?

He asked about "race" differences, not accent and language.

Or is he asking if blacks hate asians or if asians haunt whites and arabs hate everyone?

It's obviously question about white racism and I found it pretty ... racial.

Just to mention if you know some history. World wars were interracial? Was it a reason? Nope. Wake up and stop this crap.

There is a difference about racism and discrimination. If you're skilled and educated, you'll be fine.

During layoffs they used to send Asians out first and try to keep whites?

canadains are generally friendly, wat i noticed is that they will greet you warmly, they make you feel comfortable, well i dont tink there is any form or racism there

During layoffs they will not give any notice, just they will throw you out. Most of my friends were thrown out without any notice. Most of them came back to my home country, since they could not able to find a new job there due to oil crisis.

This isn't racism, this is just a factor of the economy. And, all companies must abide by employment laws with regard to notice, severance etc.

Quite possibly they did let them go without notice, but they were paid for the notice time. So they weren't thrown out. And if they did lay off all the Asians, they weren't very good at their jobs.....I kept as many as I could!
