I am a Canadian Citizen and I want to sponsor my Dutch conjugal partner. I am confused because I have read online that there has to be some sort of legal or immigration barrier preventing us from becoming common law or married. My question is, will my partners financial income problems be enoughevidence for us, for the immigration people to accept our application?

You don't qualify for conjugal. There is nothing preventing you marrying or qualifying for common law. Financial problems are not a real immigration or legal barrier.

Agreed. Immigration barrier is more like a scenario where the marriage is illegal in the home country (ie, same-sex marriage), and the spouse applied for a visitor visa to Canada but was denied.

To reiterate, you do not qualify for conjugal. You have no legal or immigration barriers preventing you from either marrying or living together for a year to become common-law.

Seriously, don't waste your time on even thinking about a "Conjugal Partnership" application. Get married in either country instead and submit a Spousal Sponsorship application.

My husband and I tried the Conjugal Way before we got married thinking it would speed things up but we were very wrong. I do not recommend doing this especially if there is nothing stopping you from getting married (they do not see financial income issues as a reason not to be together in common-law or marriage). Lots of wasted time, energy, and money because of this. In the end we withdrew our application and only got half our application fees back. :(
