Hi there:

Thank you all for sharing your experiences, it is very helpful.
I have a question regarding language proficiency.
We (my husband, 2 kids, and I) are applying to quebec, and I as principal applicant have taken the IELTS (8.5) and waiting on my TEFAQ results.
I have heard that my husband might need to provide french language proficiency, is that true?
I really need to find out as I am ready to send out my application by next week.

Thanks guys and all the best.

ALIA
Hello Alia, ur Ielts result is not so important for them but for sure it counts for ur points; it counts v much ur TEFAQ result. It is not so necessary for ur husband, he can have a prove that he is enrolled in a french course.is the principal aplicant that counts so u can send ur application now without problems if u have TEFAQ for u.

@ shannone, nice one there. That mean BiQ PARIS has changed. But pls can u provide their number? Was d conversatn in french? And sorry u av to wait this long 8months knowing fully well that u submitd ur CsQ for re-issuance due to d change in ur status

Renseignements téléphoniques :
Du lundi au vendredi de 9h à 12h30
Serveur vocal accessible 24h/24h
Téléphone
international : +33 1 53 93 45 45

Its surprising but they do allow you to talk to an agent from the vocal server. You need to select the option to "CSQ modification" until it it ask you if you want to talk to an agent then press "4"... you give your file number and she will ask for your DOB n name and then give the status of your file whether its in process or not.

They can not advise on how long it will talk but i can confirm that the lady said it normally takes 1 year to issue the CSQ.

I am very disappointed with this way or processing.

It gives a bad picture of the BIQ office in Paris.

Yes the converstion is in French but if I am nt mistaken their is an option to change the language.

I hope it helps those you have already obtained a file number.

Cheers!

Hi Quebec 2011 & Egrace 2

I have already applied for CSQ and recieved my file number. Myself and my spouse recently joined the French Alliance Classes. Should I mail a notarized copy of my receipt to Montreal to add to my file or should I wait for my interview to show the receipts and I finished the course?

Thanks
Harsha

Harsha is better u wait till u reach the level that u have declared in DCS, after u can have the exam they ask for TCF Quebec and when u have the diploma u send it to them.An enrollment receipt does not certify ur french level. It will make no difference to send them. The only way to get the points u have declared for ur french level is the exam TEF,TCF,DELF..etc
Regards and good luck

Hello Fro, u have a good file and if u send the TCF results fo ur wife u have big chances to get ur CSQ without interview, as ur file gets the following points:
Niveau de scolarite : 10
Experience professionelle: 8
Age: 16
Francais: 10
Anglais: 2
Conjoint scolarite:3
Age:2
Francais: 2

Ur total till now is 53, they ask for a 50 minimum
After: 3 kids under 12 : 12 points
Autonomie financiere: 1
u have now 66 points
U don't even need the adaptability points that can get u 6 more points
but to get ur visa u need 63 points with adaptability
u have 66 without adaptability
So u will get ur CSQ without interview
Good luck, send ur wife's test and have faith
thank you very much Ricoluna to encourage me but I think for children we can get maximum 8 points is not it??

No you don't have to send this receipt to your BIQ. Whenever you are clearing one level of french language and you are getting the certificate then without any delay send it to your BIQ. reaching to the level that you have declared in your application is not important to be shown by certificate because french language diploma is not a must criteria however learning french is almost must in practice.

good luck

Hi Quebec 2011 & Ricoluna

Thank you so much for the information. Maybe I can study myself and give the DELF A1 exam. I was looking at the French Alliance course and it was coming upto $500 per person just for the class and then additonal for DELF exam.

Do you guys think just giving the exam and updating my file would be enough?

best,

Harsha

Hello friends,

I am really confused here, in need of your utmost help.

1. Is area of training and education different, or both are same?
2. does points for work exp has anything to do with education or area of training?
3. I have counted points like this. now pls tell me if I have counted it correctly especially for work exp and for area of training?

Age: 32 years 16 points I am principal applicant

education: M.Sc. (Applied Chemistry) in May-2000.12 points

Area of Training: 0 points, because related work exp is not in last 5 years.

Total work exp: 10 years; 5 years asPharmaceutical Sales Rep from Oct-2000 to Nov-2005.(dont know NOC code for this job) and Insurance Sales Manager from Mar-2006 to May-2007.
Training Officer (trainer): May-2007 till date. (NOC code:4131) 8 points

IELTS: Overall 7.0. Speaking 7.5, writing: 7. 6 points
Enrolled for French classes A1 level (Alliance Francoise) now.

Wife age: 26 years 3 points
Wife Edu: Bachelors. Commerce in year 2005. 3 points
Area of Training: 2 points because she has work exp in 5 years of education.
work exp: Accounts Assistant from 2006 to mid 2009
English: very basic level, no points
French: she can clear delf. 2 points

Total:
My points: 16+12+0+8+6 = 42 without french and + 6 =48 with french upto b2 level.
My spouse: 3+3+2+0=8 without french and +2 = 10 with french upto a1 level.
Financial self-sufficiancy: 1 points.
Over-all points: 48+10+1 = 59 points.

So I can claim 59 points as per this calculation.

@ mkshah,

Of course, as a principal applicant you can go to Quebec first and then after well settled down there , you can call your wife and children , but the only condition is that they should be called within 1 year as the PR visa issued is valid for 1 year pls note that there is a very fragile phrase here that one need be carefull about. the one year does not start one the day the visa is being issued, but it starts on the very day that an applicant takes the medical exam. hence since no applicant can av his/her visa issued at the same day that the medical exam was taken, then all applicants av less than a year to land b4 the visa expires. some people do wait 7months after medicals b4 visa is being issued for such they av just 5months to move while other may av longer time. so it is a function of aw long one's visa office will keep one waiting after medicals the considered one from the date of its issued. And also the PA must enters first.

regards,

Yogie

@ harsha- I had stated I was a high beginner in French in my application and did not submit any exam results to back that up. Once I enrolled in Alliance Francaise, I submitted proof that I was a student there. I wanted them to see that I was definitely interested in learning French. For whatever reason, my interview was waived. Just trying to say if your circumstances change, you should update your VO. You never know if it may help or not.
