From my side I'd never take the risk with the CAIPS thingy, most applicants should get answers within April and May... I wonder how many VO they have at the embassy. In case we reach July with no answers then it's gonna be a big problem since they spend the summer working on visit visas, leaving behind people who've been waiting for long

Well the way I see it is that in May they will open the Quebec immigration again for new applicants...in another forum some people are receiving interview dates begining in May for CSQ. So logically they should finish off the backlog they have before they receive more files.

I always got a reply within a week or 2...lets hope their telling the truth and no more delays!!

Any one knows of any websites for the CAIPS notes...I google it but theres so many outdated websites.
try this site : www.caips.ca ---- is the most used and secured
I have a question : do you think that any canadian citizen can make an appointment with the MP to ask the embassy about my file if I signed a form even if the Canadian citizen is not my relative

Maybe, they can call and ask. I think as long as you give them permission it should be fine. I was able to do it and we not relative or married but have a relationship.

thanks a lot my friend, that's very kind from your side to reply. very useful answer, you're life saver, I wish we all hear good news soon . finger crossed

Keep in mind that there is an MP for each region within the same city... It all depends on the postal code you provide them with...

Hi

I had this useful information from someone else, which I do hope useful to many members.

Getting your CAIPS is fairly straightforward; you will have to pay $5.00 since you are requesting CAIPS notes for your spouse, who is not residing in Canada. I had instructions from someone on this forum on how to do it.

Follow the instructions below:

1. Have your spouse fill out this form:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5475E.pdf

Step by step instructions:

Tick the box that says "I authorize Citizenship and Immigration Canada... ... to release information from my case file to the following individual."

Then have your spouse fill out all of his/her particulars (his/her name, DOB, location of VISA Processing centre, i.e. The Canadian Embassy......... etc.)

Then have him/her fill out your own personal information under the headings titled "Designated Individual."

Have your spouse sign AND date the form at the bottom

OR, if you have already filled out this form:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5476E.PDF

then just send a photocopy of it along with 2. and 3.

2. You must now fill out this form:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5563B.pdf

Step by step instructions:

Leave the first two boxes at the top blank (Requesters Reference No. and Public Rights Administration file number).

Tick the box that says "Access to Information Act ($ 5.00 fee)."

You HAVE to pay $5.00, there is no way around this. Do NOT tick "Privacy Act" and hope they will just process it without you having to pay; this will NOT work. You must pay $5.00 since you are requesting the info on behalf of your spouse, and your spouse is not residing in Canada.

Select which language you wish to receive your notes in, English or French. (These choices are under the "Privacy Act" sub-heading. Then tick the box which says "Receive copies of the Records." .

Fill out your spouse's information.

Under the next heading, "Request for-Required Information" box, tick the "CAIPS (information abroad)" box and write "The Canadian Embassy ........." under the "Embassy" sub-heading, and write the "Visa File No." in the appropriate box.

DO NOT check any other boxes in this section. Especially the "OVERSEAS VISA FILE" box. If you do this, they will pull your file aside, photocopy everything and send it to you.
It will not only take you forever to get the information, but they will also take your file out of the queue to process your request and therefore it will take LONGER !!! (CAIPS is just a computer printout of all the work done on your file so far. It will not affect the speed at which your visa office)

In the next heading, tick the box which says "This request is being made by a Canadian Citizen..." Fill out all of your information in this box, name, phone number, address, etc.

Sign and date.

3. Make out a cheque payable to the "Receiver General of Canada" for $5.00

Enclose the cheque in an envelope with the other forms, and a copy of your Canadian ID or a passport copy and send it to the address below:

Hello everyone, Cana or anyone else that has an Idea about how to give permission to a canadian friend I know so he can contact the MP would appreciate it , what I would need is where to find a form to fill up and hopefully a webpage that has instructions for this process, thank you so much

Just contact your friend and tell him or her to send a letter to the mp in their area asking for help and explaining the reason. The mp's assistants will send your friend a form that both of you should fill, it's an authorization form under the name of the mp's office, that's it...

Thanks, is there a list of MP offices so we can triangulate the nearest office to my friend's location ?

There isn't a specific list but your friend should be more aware who's the mp in his area, he can contact any mp in the city and the assistants will either help him directly or redirect him to the mp in his area. Keep in mind that in his request for assistance he should mention the complete address...

I have a question and hopefully someone here can shed some light.....if the bring forward date is in August (which means the deadline for the VO to look at the file) does it mean the medicals will not be sent before this date? Or is it possible to receive the medical before August as its only a deadline for the officer.

From what I've been informed, If the file is to be reviewed from the VO by August then I'm positive that the medical exam won't be sent till at least 15 days after, I might be wrong. The mp's office told me that my file will be reviewed on April 22 and in case I need to do follow up, cic advised to make it in mid may...
