I would like to know how you guys put your application together.

I am thinking about having all the pages hole-punched and put them in a school binder. Everything well organized just as the checklist states. No staples, no nothing since everything will be hole-punched into a school binder.

Will this work? Is it allowed?

How did you guys do it?

Thank you

I wouldn't do that. I think the main thing is that they would like to organize the papers the way they want which isn't necessarily the way you want to do it. That's why no staples. The best idea is paper clips and maybe some of those "bulldog" type clips that are easily taken off. I believe that Buffalo specifically states "no binders". The problem is that binders are heavy and bulky. When you consider how many applications Mississauga gets (I believe it's thousands per day), they really need to keep the volume down.

I have heard that some office punches a hole in the top left corner and binds the sheets using that hole. Really, though, you want to leave it up to them.

So should I just have everything together in a bulldog-clip and put it in a envelope and mail it?

I am just extremely worried something may get lost.

Is this how you sent your application in?

I put everything together with two bulldog clips - one very large one holding our relationship evidence, separated by tabs marking what each section contained (emails and chat logs, letters of support, utility bills, credit card and bank statements, etc), and one smaller clip holding all our application forms and supporting official documents (birth cert, marriage cert, medicals and PCCs).

Then I put those two bundles into a plastic document holder, to keep it all together. That way, when they take it out of the FedEx box, nothing falls out, and then they can easily do whatever with it as far as organizing it to work with it goes.

Awesome.

I had the idea of doing tabs but in a binder since it seems the best way to do it but now since Buffalo doesnt like binders, I guess I will use the bulldog-clips and put them in a plastic document holder.

Thanks for the idea.

Hi, I did a lot of searching on this forum for the same reason and it seems that most people put the application together in order of the document checklist and used paperclips and foldback clups to keep the sections together. I did the same then kept it all together with a few big rubber bands. I didn't use any dividers or folders because it seems that is not the preferred way. There is a thread with photos of peoples application packages on it which I found comforting to look at.

The one thing I'll add:

We stapled some things -- but only multi-page forms together.

So if a form was 4 pages long, we stapled those four pages together. It makes sense because all the identifying parts are on the first page -- if the last page was lost (or even out of order), things would be confused.
