When completing your Record of Landing the official at the airport may ask to see proof of funds. Not everyone gets asked, but many do. The amount has to be in easily transferrable currency, preferably Canadian dollars but if not then US dollars, sterling or euro.nj123 said:Qorax,
Awesome and useful thread!
I'm planning to land in Jan 2010 from South Africa (SA). My wife is canadian(living with me in SA) and we've been regularly transferring money from my SA bank account to her Canadian bank account. Do I still need to show POF? If so, would proof of the transfers suffice?
Thanks
If you have a Canadian bank account I am pretty sure that showing the statements and balance for that Canadian account will suffice. As long as your wife is accompanying you to Canada then showing her account as proof of funds when your complete your Recording of Landing will be fine IMO.
We are considering transferring our funds to a Canadian account prior to landing if we're accepted for FSW1 (still awaiting AOR post-June-26 so it's still early days yet!), but it depends on the exchange rate at the time. We probably won't physically move to Canada until several months after landing because we'll have to come back to UK to sell our house etc.
Anyway, best of luck.
Wayne.
