@ goal

The moment your son's meds reached the CHC they have started acting on it. They wouldn't wait till 10-10-2010 for further processing it.

Qorax

Thanks qorax ,

You mean they have started working on for the next stage .

Making as many transactions is not a cause of worry, but going below 75-80% is not wise. I'd suggest keep depositing some funds as well, intermittently.

Yes, it's quite possible (many get it) that during the Meds CHC may ask u an updated POF. And that time u must have the required funds. And if then u do a sudden hefty deposit - it might raise a red flag.

So, beware!

Dear qorax,

Thank you for your reply, I hope it will work for Good.

Hi Qorax,
I have read in one of your threads:

BTW: I avoided the TCs & took some 'cash' & the rest in Bank Drafts instead. It worked-out damn well. Got some stupendous rates from the Forex House/s at Dubai.

So it means that best option is take some cash and rest in bank draft...where is forex house in dubai? and what is the process to make bank draft in this case? How will those be utilized/cashed there at canada?

I had made bank drafts from emirates-nbd bank for CIC processing in favor to Receiver General Canada(immigration fees etc) but do not know about bank draft which you have mentioned above in favor to whom?

Kindly help. Thanks for your usual support and help

Thanks

Hi Jawad,

I think I had replied u on this somewhere earlier. Anyway, plz note that as I left Dubai (May-2010) there was only one Forex House, Al Fardan Exchange, which was still making the CAD drafts. I got mine made from their Deira Br. - knew their Br. Manager, who gave me smarter rates than market.

U just have to go there, bargain a little with the counter staff, get the rates, convert your Dhs., pay the amount & u get the draft - on the spot. Remember, the drafts r drawn on BMO-Toronto [they have a contract with them] & u can just deposit it in your a/c (after landing in Canada).

If in Toronto - it gets encashed in 48hrs. Mine did. Also note that it's immaterial in which bank u opened the a/c. But if u do so in a BMO Br. here - the encashment is also on the spot. Others, 48hrs.

Regards,

Qorax

Hi Jawad,

It is only Al Fardan who are issuing CAD bank drafts as of now in Dubai.I also got a CAD bank draft from them.I suggest take 75-80% of your funds in draft and the balance in CAD cash.I got CAD cash also from Al Fardan. You can negotiate the rates and the manager currently is Irfan at their deira branch.

Thanks

If and when we are granted Visas, we were considering rather than carrying the money of simply opening a HSBC Canada account from here in the UK and transferring the money across (I have a HSBC current account and myself and my wife also have a joint HSBC account between us).

If we bring bank statements from a Canadian bank account in canadian dollars surely that is considered readily available funds since we can just draw the money from the cash point in Canada?

Wayne.

dear Qorax...i applied post-26 June to CIO...They have started charging CREDIT CARDS as was posted by3-4 guys today...
will it take more time for CIO for encashment of bank draft issued on HSBC bank in Toronto?Approx. hows many days will it take for encashment in Toronto?
thanks

Gurudev..... Dear Qorax....

Pleaseeeeeeeee ignore my stupidity for asking following question (as you have already suggested to carry cash, Bank Draft, TC);

I am living in USA and having account in Bank of America but I have noticed that TD bank has very good presence in Canada,

Would it be reasonable to open account in TD bank & transfer my funds in TD bank for this purpose (as funds are always available through ATM machine) and carry TD bank statement?

I understand that you have suggested not to depend on Bank statement, but few persons in this thread have talked about Scotiabank which has grate presence in Canada, on bases of same I thought about TD bank which has very good presence in Canada and easily accessible in USA.

I would appreciate your comments.

regards.

From the US your Bank of America "statement" will suffice as your landing POF. U do not need to carry cash, draft etc.

U may land, open the TD a/c & instruct* someone reliable@US to w/draw funds & wire transfer it to this Canadian a/c.
*U may also have a prearrangement with your US bank to do so telephonically from Canada. All u'd require is to place a pre-signed authorization there.
