Were you asked to show the proof of funds though? A lot of people are asked how much money they are bringing with them but only a few are ever asked to show it. I was one of the few asked to show it.
Most new immigrants "will be" asked to show it.

I'm planning on carrying 5k CAD and showing the rest as an updated bank statement, same as what i submitted for application processing POF. Or do we need to carry the original FD certificates instead of bank statements?

Hello,

My flight is in July. For my settlement funds, I plan to bring 4000CAD and the rest of the money is in my ATM card which I can withdraw in any ATM machines abroad with a Mastercard/Cirrus/Maestro logo. I will just bring a bank statement to show how much is in my ATM card and I can also access my account online or via an iphone application from my bank here in the Philippines. Will this satisfy the immigration officer?
Need answers to this question also? Please help

Hi Guys,
I have a query regarding bringing the funds sometime(after 6 months or more) post landing into Canada. Does anyone guide about what is the procedure to bring the funds into Canada without any tax liability with CRA. Is there a possibility for the same and if so how to go about it i.e. how, when and whom to inform.
Any official reference or source of information would be very useful.

TIA

no special treatment required, transfer your funds from home/residing country account to your bank account in Canada. you may or may not get a call from your bank in Canada to check if you are expecting some transfer they may deduct some fee, but that's about it..

Thanks for the reply. But won't the bank inform CRA about a substantial transfer of funds and what if they enquire further.
Did you had any first hand experience with regards to the same.
