1. Did you change ur name or birthdate? I did not change my name.

2. Were the docs submitted in your application in english? Were they all clear and easy to be read? Yes, all in English in simple clear English

3. Did you apply as minor? Or submitted application as group with minor? Submitted as a family (with my sister born 1989). I was born 1980 and my Dad was naturalized 1976.

4. Have you received any correspondence that your application was sent to Program support Unit? No, I have not received.

I am also a 1st gen born. My father was naturalized in 1980. I was born in 1986.

Sumitted my application through the philippine embassy on nov 28 2018. Per CIC site, Application received on dec 18 2018. They acknowledged receipt on Jan 28 2019.

My countries Embassy/ High Commision refused to accept my application so I had to send via a family friend to the CIC in Sydney. They said they only accept for minors even after showing them the necessary documents. They then said I need to go get receipt of hospital birth and my childhood medical records which they know is in possible in a third world country.

I hope they respond to us all in time.

This is rather scary.

Sorry. I didnt quite get the statement

"they only accept for minors even after showing them the necessary documents"

Is it because medical records were part of the requirements which your were unable to produce so Embassy refused your application? Do you mind sharing your country of birth? Retention of medical records for hospitals is mostly 5 years only. Afterwhich, these docs are archived. Did you try contacting the hospital to which you were born and seek a "certification" in lieu of the medical records? Thats what i did. My embassy accepted my application.

In the CIC website, it clearly states that if you are outside Canada/USA, you must submit the application through the Embassy/Consulate to which you are physically located.

And since you coursed it through a friend in Sydney(i assume in Nova Scotia), that is where the inconsistency lies and the reason why its taking quite long maybe? There maybe a misrepresentation in the application.

I hope they coordinate with you the soonest.

In Lagos (Nigeria), they say they don't understand the first generation born abroad application. They only accept for minors(babies). Even when the application form states that it is Minor and Adults.

To make things though or impossible, since you are disturbing them, they tell you to go get documents or records that they know would have being destroyed or never existed because of poor record keeping ( that is the medical records). It was really very frustrating.

The reason I sent directly via a family friend to Sydney was this reason because they didn't accept the document and thus caused a delay of over a year to get the documents submitted.

There is also an option to submit indirectly on the application package which is what I used and I stated the relationship with the person who posted in Canada on my behalf.

The guys hear are not too friendly and even with mails to the Embassy stating my challenge, the front desk person told me to my face that 'there is nothing like fist generation born abroad, and that my documents if submitted would never go beyond his desk.

That person from the embassy needs to get fired.

If i were u, i printed the whole CIC website and let him eat it. Hahaha. Jk.

Anyway, im not aware that there is really an alternative to which you can submit the application if you are outside Canada/USA other than the Embassy. I always thought that it was non-negotiable.

You have enclosed your application in a letter that explains it all. Hopefully they consider and coordinate with you soon.

Been long pending. I suggest u submit the web form asap to know the real status

Thanks for the response. I showed him oo, but you know the Embassy is a security place so you have to just be calm and patient.

Hope we get positive response soon.
