Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

So I emailed the office few days ago and today I received a response from them and this is what it said:

"Please be informed that this application is presently ongoing preliminary background checks. Background checks on applications, differs from case to case. Once background checks are completed, we will contact your spouse."

So I guess we will be waiting for a long time; because from what I have read on this forum, the background checks can take a long time. This is such a tiring process.

Don't loose your hope dear. You will get it soon.

Does any one know when they will give the passport back. My husband gave the passport on last tuesday. Also, final decision has been made but there is no letter from them.

What shall I do?

Did you submit passport through VFS? If so, do they give you a tracking number to obtain the status of the passport? I'd wait until the end of this week and then follow up early next week with VFS.

Same with me, no updates from the VFS yet.
ECAS says decision made..

they transferred the passport today from High commision to VFS SRAMA. However, no letter on final decision.

Hi Tranjini and SRAMA9,

I'm not entirely sure if they give a decision letter before the passport/visa is delivered to you. I think the letter should come with the visa in the passport. As we all know, the VO in Sri Lanka is slightly on the slower side, so please do not worry. You will get your visas soon

So he got his passport with the visa on it until october. he also got the permanent resident letter with a photo on it. he also got all of our supporting documents like photos and greeting cards. He got instructions as to how to arrive at the airport and get a job in canada and limitations to the PR.

I am writing this so people can be informed about the process. Thank to all of you.
