Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

I graduated from a Diploma program June 2013. I am currently working 2 parttime jobs, so I am basically getting fulltime hours. I am 24years old. My boyfriend lives in Srilanka. I am planning to get married Aug 2014 and plan to sponsor him to Canada. I live with my parents. For sponsoring what does it mean to have an assest? It is like having a house? I am planning to buy a house.
Also is there a requirement that he needs to do a english course/canadian /english llanguage requirement course for 2 months in srilanka inorder for sponsorship to be accepted?

Hi my name is giny. I am working as a part time receptionist. I will be getting arranged married in oct in srilanka. I really like him. I will be sponsoring him to canada after. I am new in all this spousership stuff. I dont want to cause a ddeelay in the sponsorship.I will be going there for 4 weeks,and i will have a wedding and a registeration there also. Is there a rule in srilanka that you have to stay specific # of days in srilanka before or after marriage inorder for sponsorship to be accepted? I cant get dayoff from work for more than 4 weeks .

4 weeks is more than enough. I don't think there is a minimum number of days. Make sure you take pictures of you two on every occasion w/ family and or with out family, etc and keep receipts of everything that you do together. Document everything. For the registration in Sri Lanka - you need to inform the registrars office there 2 weeks prior to that arrangement.

Congrats on your wedding. It is not a problem at all. I only had 2 weeks break for my wedding as well. I will say, it is always better to stay long but it is not mandatory. I got my spouse visa in 2 months and 4 days. so everything is depend on ur visa officer.

It's been tough 4 months for me. Still no answer.
Two weeks ago Colombo high commission has asked for additional information from my spouse regarding my income, and had asked her to submit my tax information from 2012.
We mailed the additional documents requested but there are no updates on ECAS on the status. Status still says application received, and medicals received.
I'm worried that the documents didn't make it through. I've already sent a case specific email to the high commission. Still have not gotten any answer.

Hopefully they are reviewing our file right now, that is why they have asked for additional information.

It took 3 weeks for me to get visa after " IN PROCESS" .
