Exactly same thing happened to me. I sent an email and instead of replying, they sent a passport request

I think it's not about the lucke. Now Sri Lankan visa office is actually working really fast. jancy was applying in May and I applied in November. We both get in same time, but I think it is about Colombo visa office is working faster
