Please stop panicking.
A) Govenrment can't just cancel already submitted applications for a program it itself initiated. This would be immediately challenged in court.
The same goes for a possible conservative government. Once an application has been submitted, it can't be cancelled without a cause and eligibility can't change retroactively, no matter who is in power.
What a new government can do is cancel, stop receiving new applications and change eligibility for any immigration program it wants, but this is irrelevant for our program as it has already ended and no new submissions are possible
B) May be we should create application tracker just like the ones for other PR programs. That would help is understand a process better and keep calm
I can confidently say that government employees often spend about 80% of their work time idle throughout the year.
Having worked on contracts with a few governmental organizations, I found it difficult to witness this firsthand.
Hi Everyone, yesterday we finally received conditional approval under this program. Applied on the first day of the program opening. The conditions are as follows: 1) Provide military service history (if applicable). 2) Current financial information such as employment letter. Quote: "You must provide evidence that you made arrangements for your care and support. Your application for permanent residence could be refused if you are not self-supporting.".

Our application is for my 69 year old mother in law who does not work and relies on us to support her. She is definitely not self-supporting and has been living with us for the last five years. I thought these applications were not sponsorship applications. It seems like the government is trying to slide in extra conditions after the fact. Do you have more details about what this new requirement of "made arrangements for your care and support" are? I am sure that there are a lot of senior applicants in this class. Is the government going to throw them out of Canada because they are not self-supporting?
My mother in law is 69. Of course we will support her and she will of course live with us. However, this was not supposed to be a sponsorship application and they seem to be turning it in to a sponsorship application, which is not fair. They are doing it indirectly by putting the onus on the application to prove that arrangements have been made for care and support. Our plan was for my mother in law to stay with us until the end of her life, which we hope is in the far distant future. This is typical government slippery stuff. I have a colleague who also has his mother in law living with him. His wife has a sister and the sister is here with her husband. The husband is a skilled welder and has a job with a good salary. There are no concerns about that part of the family being self-supporting.
IMO this is around social assistance. IRCC wants to see the individual won't end up on government assistance. So the way to show self-sufficiency for an older relative is to show evidence they will be living with their Canadian family member in Canada, what that Canadian's salary and savings are, etc. Self sufficient = not reliant on government financial support.
