I see that many countries have now frozen asylum claims from Syrians. This has me somewhat concerned that should the war stop in Ukraine, the Canadian government could put a stop to all of our applications. What are your thoughts on this?
Please stop panicking.
A) Govenrment can't just cancel already submitted applications for a program it itself initiated. This would be immediately challenged in court.
The same goes for a possible conservative government. Once an application has been submitted, it can't be cancelled without a cause and eligibility can't change retroactively, no matter who is in power.
What a new government can do is cancel, stop receiving new applications and change eligibility for any immigration program it wants, but this is irrelevant for our program as it has already ended and no new submissions are possible
B) May be we should create application tracker just like the ones for other PR programs. That would help is understand a process better and keep calm
