I applied for my PR card renewal on January 14, 2016 and have received an AOR via email today (March 13). I am noticing in the CIC website that, the processing time for PR card renewal applications is declining steadily - a positive sign indeed! I wish all the best to the other applicants.

Hi, I applied for my PR card renewal under urgent processing and it was approved on February 19, 2016.
But CIC officer made a mistake and sent my card to the wrong address...
My departure is tomorrow but as of today I have no idea where it is.

Has anybody here come back to Canada without a valid PR card or PR travel document recently?
Unfortunately I won't have enough time to apply for a travel document while I'm away.

I appriciate any advice and comments. Thanks!

hi Guys,

please refer my updated timelines.
Due to my Gulf stay i was sure that my file will go to secondary review but thank god.

We received your application for a permanent resident card on November 12, 2015.
We started processing your application on February 24, 2016.
Your request for a permanent resident card was approved on March 4, 2016. Your Permanent resident card will be mailed to you or if quality assurance is required, made available for you to pick up at a CIC office.

btw today i checked processing time and its reduced to 138 days from 155 days so CIC is working fast.

Card received today march 15 2016, the whole process took around 140 days.

Just curious as to whether you submitted photos using New Specifications - or old ? Our application went in about a week after yours -but I'm concerned it will be returned as we sent old photo specs - as had been indicated as per CIC instructions on their website . We since learned about the change to Pr photo requirements. It seems strange that some people are getting PR cards with old pics while others have had entire package returned -only to have to start from scratch again!

HelenaD: As you pointed out the fact that the photo specification has been updated for PR card renewal application, I just checked it in the CIC website. No, I did not send my pictures as per the recent specification. I received an acknowledgement of receipt on March 13 via an email and I am noticing the status update in ECAS today; it is saying "in-process". I simply hope that, they do not return our application just based on the new photo specification.

I am planning to prepare another application package just in case CIC returns my current application due to photographs taken as per old specifications. I have noticed that, the latest version of the application form IMM5444E is still November 2015, which means we do not have to fill out a new application form at this point except the signature page should show the latest date. I will still send all the same supplementary information (CRA NOA's, T4's etc.).
We have come long way with CIC.. we can't freak out on losing a few extra months in one of their processing - just hang in there!

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like to share my timeline with you (or at least the beginning):
PR card renewal application sent to Sydney on 24th of Jan 2016 and received on 26th of Jan 2016.
Acknowledgment of receipt: received today on 16th of March 2016

I guess it will still take some time until I am able to see my status on Ecas but does anyone know usually how long it takes for them to update their system?

I am also hoping not to go into secondary review...I applied with aprox 1000 days of presence so I know I meet the criteria but I did travel a lot and had a couple of stamps from the UAE and Turkey in my passport...I hope this won't delay the process...

I hope everyone receives good news about their applications soon!

Do not want to create any panic, but did you send your photo following the latest photograph specifications? Few of us who applied in January 2016 missed that and now praying that CIC won't return our application for photographs taken based on the older spec. Apparently, the PR card photograph specification was updated on the 4th of January this year.

Hi Khana26,

Yes, I did send the photos according to the new specs. In fact I had already had the photos taken according to the old specs back in November and I was going to send them but then before I sent my application, I realized the specs had changed!
So it was kind of last minute but I was able to get new photos before I sent everything out!

But I have read on the forum that some people got approved with the old photos so fingers crossed for you that they will accept it and that they won't send the file back.
I suppose that if you already received your AOR, maybe the worst that will happen is that they will ask for new photos? I hope so anyways!

Email received for AOR - March 1st, 2016
Online Status Available -March 3rd
Decision Made Date (Approved) - March 15th (But updated just now, takes a week to update it online I believe)
Waiting for the PR Cards to be mailed out.

My timeline:

1.We received your application for a permanent resident card on April 23, 2015.
2.We started processing your application on July 28, 2015.
3.We sent you a letter on July 28, 2015. (secondary review)

I hope to receive my PR by the middle of May seeing that I have a conference to present a work at the end of May which flight ticket I have already bought. I asked urgency, but the official mentioned that it is not possible to ask urgency when the application is the secondary review.
