Recently got updated to DM. Hope to get my PR card in March. Faster than expected but I was more than 1 year above residency obligation. This is for a PR card renewal. I am also about to apply for citizenship


Permanent Resident Card
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on January 21, 2022.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on February 23, 2022.
  3. We started processing your application on February 23, 2022.
Quick question, wanted to know if you get different AOR for family members? Mine has a similar timeline - Jan 20th, AOR - Feb 25th, but just concerned about my wife's app as i applied in one package. Appreciate your inputs.

jan 8 2021- paper application sent without tracking(origin BC)

feb 17 2021- received email confirning for they have received my application on Jan 17th

today Feb 18- in eCAS status updated “decision made”

hoping to receive the card soon.
Permanent Resident Card

Earlier on 1st march, got confirmation that cards are mailed, well they earlier asked to review photos of 3 family member out of 4, so i submitted and though now PR cards will come for all 4.

however, today got an update for the 4th member also they wanted photo revision, crazy, why they are reviewing one by one for a single application, anyway have submitted that also.

The real question is that, I have linked the PR card application with main application and in that it shows that cards are mailed only for primary application does not show for the 3 remaining family, so does the PR appcation in IRCC login ( not new portal) also shows individual cards mailed status? Because for eCOPR it shows 4 records individual for each member, so want to check if we get same status for mailing also ?

How did you get through? Which options did you choose? I tried calling and was told they were too busy to transfer me. I’m going to try again!
I was able to connect on my 4th attempt. There is an option to know status of pr card. I had to wait for 10 mins before I was attended by an agent. The only way is to keep calling.

My status changed to Complete today. Here’s my timeline.

Permanent Resident Card
  1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on November 12, 2021.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on January 20, 2022.
  3. We started processing your application on January 20, 2022.
  4. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on March 2, 2022.

Called the customer support number today and they told me that my application which was set to Decision Made since Nov 17th was approved in December. However, when they sent my application and others in my batch, there was no more ink in the printer and that's why it's delayed.

Now they have no idea when my card will be ready. This is ridiculous.

I also complained to them that I am unable to link my application with my GC Key and I think it's because it's asking for my City of Birth and that is not something I have provided and they told me to fill up a webform. Filled up the webform and got a response saying they'll only respond to urgent matters.

Out of ink? This has got to be the dumbest excuse I have ever heard as to why they can't print it. I can't even believe that is what you were told.

While I generally exercise much restraint calling out unbelievable anecdotal reports, yep, that is a persistent problem in a forum like this. Including claims about what this or that IRCC personnel supposedly said. A lot of trash over the transom.

In any event, I too lean toward not believing that was what a call centre agent said. Not that it is beyond the realm of possibility, given the nature and scope of current supply-chain problems throughout North American these days. That is, while I lean toward not believing that was actually what a help centre agent said, it could be an actual situation, not at all a "dumb" excuse. (There have been, after all, news stories about ink cartridge shortages going back to last fall, and some recently linking the ink cartridge shortages to the persistent chip shortages plaguing various manufacturers.)

In any event, I too lean toward not believing that was what a call centre agent said. Not that it is beyond the realm of possibility, given the nature and scope of current supply-chain problems throughout North American these days. That is, while I lean toward not believing that was actually what a help centre agent said, it could be an actual situation, not at all a "dumb" excuse. (There have been, after all, news stories about ink cartridge shortages going back to last fall, and some recently linking the ink cartridge shortages to the persistent chip shortages plaguing various manufacturers.)
The ink thing has been brought up a number of times. I suspect the issue is mostly due to staffing constraints as a result of COVID and capacity mandates, but global supply chain issues causing a lack of ink isn't outside of the realm of possibility.

I hear your pain. Landed July 3 with no updates. I can't link my account through gc key or find it through ecas. Always told not found. Even called and asked them for exact info to put into the form and told no application found yet I keep being told its in progress. I reached out to my MP in Nov who were told it is waiting to be printed. 3 months later still no update. This has been the worst experience of my life so far. What I don't get is how people applied for it after me are getting it yet I am still waiting for mine. I mean 2022 applicants are getting it.

At the risk of perpetuating an off-topic tangent, but otherwise to highlight a suggestion that this topic is perhaps the best source of information about how long PR card processing is taking and there is little need to hog call centre resources for updates --

I have no trouble believing some, apparently including you, not only waste their own time but also pose an excessive and unreasonable burden on IRCC resources by repeatedly making useless inquiries. It is not like calling the guy at a local garage asking when your car is going to get fixed. It's a bureaucracy. A big bureaucracy. And currently a big bureaucracy bogged down for a wide range of reasons, some reasonable, some not reasonable. Obviously, those who impose unnecessary demands on IRCC resources are part of the problem.

You should be aware that there are scores and scores of temporary and permanent immigrants in Canada who have questions which call centre agents may very well have answers that could help them navigate their way forward, and many of them do not have as much free time as others might, especially those who are in demanding day time jobs with very limited windows of time to make telephone calls. In contrast, you are not going to be bumped up in the queue because you make a nuisance of yourself. This probably comes across judgmental, but please consider the limited resources involved and there are scores and scores of others who actually could use help from call centre agents, and who are having difficulty getting through due to call volumes.

You might have noted I did not call you out particularly and I prefaced my remarks by honestly saying I am generally reluctant to call out less than credible anecdotal reports, even though there is no shortage of them in this forum. There is not much to be gained doing that. And even in regards to the content of the report involved here, a call centre agent reporting an ink problem causing the delay, I couched my comments in an acknowledgement that is within the realm of possibility. I did not mean to actually initiate an exchange into the veracity of your report. After all, it does not matter, as it is something that will affect all PR card production equally, and the timeline between a decision made and the date the card is actually produced and delivered will affect PR card applicants uniformly. It is just one more aspect of current circumstances slowing down the process.

As I noted at the outset of this post, this topic is probably as good a source of information about the processing timelines as anyone can access. No need to hound call centre agents. Nothing to be gained doing that. Some harm doing that.

Hopefully, now, back to the stream of detailed timeline reports this topic is valuable for . . .

Hey guys, wondering if anyone is on the same boat:

I got my COPR in July 2021, my photo is still in review and I'm still waiting for my PR card.
I don't know who to call or email to check my process and I can't link my profile to the process either :(

I would recommend just filling out a new paper application, new photos and sending it in. You probably don't need to pay the fee again. I did my soft landing in 2020 at the height of COVID-19 pandemic and never got my PR card. Finally made plans to move to Canada. In Nov 2021, submitted new paper applications along with new photos and $50 receipts. Yesterday, got the notification that my PR card has been mailed and today got an email that they will be refunding the $50.
