PR Card 63 days overdue - Need advice

When I got my CoPR signed last year, the Immigration officer said the PR card would be mailed in 6 weeks.

6 weeks passed. I called CIC every week to get a status update and the response was the same "it's being processed'. They said there was no need for requesting Urgent Processing or making a new application for a PR card.
I also filled out a Case Enquiry Form twice and have not received a response.

My job requires me to travel frequently to different destinations for short periods. I've held off this long, but now I have to travel in less than 6 weeks.
Travel card applications won't be feasible since I'll be in different cities/countries every 7 days, most of these locations don't have Canadian consulates/embassies nearby (I've checked). This is affecting my employment and any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated.

FYI - Processing time for PR cards is not 6 weeks. It's more double that (87 days currently).

Have you been waiting 63 days or 6 weeks + 63 days? If you've only been waiting 63 days then your card is not overdue.

Also - urgent processing is only available for PR card renewals (not new PR cards).

I take it you hold a non visa exempt passport?

6 weeks + 63 days = 105 days.
I have a NZ passport, I believe it's visa-exempt.

If you have a NZ passport then you don't need a PR card to return to Canada. Yes - you need to find out what's happening with your card. But nothing is stopping you from traveling in and out of Canada as of now. So that fixes one immediate problem... Note that rules changes are coming into place in March and you will need to have a PR card by then (I believe) to travel in and out.

I would continue calling the Help Desk. Sadly they are not the sharpest tools in the drawer.

Interesting comment. Are you suggesting I return to Canada as a temporary visitor? As far as I'm aware:
  • I'm employed by a Canadian company and hence need a visa.
  • NZ visitors are limited to a maximum 90 day stay.
  • NZ visitors need to show proof of departure date.

I posted about this in another thread. The basic gist, is that if you are from a visa-exempt country, almost all commerical transport companies won't bother checking your immigration status, therefore you don't need to show them a pr card. They'll only ask for your passport to confirm your ID.
The Canadian border guards will accept your CoPR letter as proof of your pr status. So, you should be fine to come back into Canada on your normal work permit/pr status. No need to say that your are a vistor. They'll just ask for your passport, then ask your status. Once you say PR, they'll then ask for your pr card and you only have to tell that tou are waiting for your card, but have your CoPR. Then they'll probably ask to see the letter and then let you through. I just did this a little over a week ago. I had no problems at all.

One option can be to travel from nearby us airport abroad
Park ur car at airport (buffalo if residing in toronto). Just have ur copr form with u when driving back home in car.

No - I'm suggesting you enter as a PR. Those who are non-visa exempt passport holders require either a Travel Document or PR card to board a plane and return home. Not so with visa exempt passport holders. You can do it on your passport alone. When you enter Canada, you'll be entering as a PR (not a visitor). My own husband did this several times before he got his PR card. Many many others on this forum have done this as well. It's extremely common.

No - they are canceled when you land and become a PR.

Do you mean that they cancel student and work visas when you land by stamping them or other physically visible ways? I will need to travel outside Canada and if I don't receive my PR card by my date of departure, I will have to use my temporary visa to show at the airport in the other country from which I'll be departing back to Canada.

All VISAs are cancelled immediately you LANDED because as a PR you don't need them!

If you have return tickets booked for travel outside Canada, is there a way to apply for the urgent service?
