Approved student visa - Do not travel earlier than 3 weeks

Hi all, My sister's visa and study permit is approved for September. However, she has received this letter telling her not to travel more than 3 weeks earlier than the start date. Has anyone received anything similar? Is this strictly enforced? We would love her to come earlier and spend the...

    Oath Ceremony- COVID-19

Would they still require you to attend an in-person oath ceremony as well once the covid-19 restrictions are lifted? I know in the case of the scientists who had the remote ceremony months ago they said he'd still need to do the in-person one later.

    What about Citizenship Test ?

    Highly doubt it.

Can income credited during your absence in the country affect the citizenship application process

I don't think this in anyway impacts your citizenship application.

Is passport required for oath ceremony

I didn't take my passport and it was not needed. You will need to take your PR card as they check and take it away.

Please guys please only use FedEx to send the application

Well, I don't know how often that's the case, but, if you have paid for "guaranteed" services, you can request a refund if your package is delayed. Likely (and reasonably) not during the pandemic though.

    April 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

No. I was among those who took longer than normal. My wife applied 3 months after me and got hers before I did. Not sure what the cause for the delay was though. The Scarborough office did move its location during my application, so I guess it slowed down things a bit.

    April 2020 - Citizenship Applicants

That's weird. I definitely used the courier address when I submitted mine (photo). Anyway, I think it's wise to listen to the Canada post lady.

    Passport at citizenship test

Yes that's perfectly fine. A lot of people don't maintain valid passports due to infrequent out of country travels.

No update from IRCC on citizenship oath ceremony. Next steps?

The things we take for granted in life! A simple worry-free grocery shopping seems like a dream now. Regardless, none of us are decision makers. Let us tolerate some humor in these dark days.

How much buffer time do you keep?

I had 3 days of buffer, and my wife had 5 days! No issue, not even mentioned during the interview. But we were absolutely sure about all our travel records, and had no gap in passport validity.

Please reply ASAP : Regarding Child Citizenship application

There's no "ADDING" people to your application after you've applied. Not like PR. If you both apply without her, she would likely have to wait until she's an adult and then submit an application. I think it's best for one of you to wait and apply with her. I'm not sure about these by the way.

    Citizenship Application Form

You can submit the old one with no problem. Some time in the future, they set a deadline for using old forms. Something like the applications received on Nov 1, 2020 onwards should use form xxxx.

    Decision Made and Oath Ceremony

There is no email/mail communication about "Decision Made" status. If that decision is positive (99% of the cases, otherwise you would know), you will be put in queue for oath invite. Unfortunately, with the coronoavirus situation, all ceremonies are on hold. Once that situation is resolved...

    Study permit + visitor visa?

Are you sure? I know a friend of mine that just applied for study permit, but she was already in Canada. Also my wife applied for work permit, but she was also in Canada. Is anyone aware of good link on IRCC website that explains this?
