You will have to order GCMS. Search on the forum on how. That's the only way to know the exact progress of your file. I am in a similar situation.
Not necessarily. Some files are sent to the applicants' local visa office (consulate of high commission) quite early on in the process. So, you cannot know without NDVO sharing with you the progress details of your application (they rarely, if ever, do that) or you order GCMS.
