Keep the faith EmmaLee! it will all be over soon and when you and your hubby are finally together you can talk and laugh about all of the struggles you went through.

I feel the entire process makes these relationships stronger. Good luck to you and I hope you get a quick turn around for the police check.

Don't feel bad about the 1000 we paid way more than that :o :P

It's pretty frustrating because the application clearly says "in the last five years have you lived anywhere other than your country of residence for more than six months" (not a direct quote!), so we ticked no because technically he never lived in Grenada but he did stay for 5 months once. Other than that it was in and out on a boat he worked on. The letter we received says that we have to have a record check from any country he's lived in for more than six months since he was EIGHTEEN.

So they've asked for something different than what the application says and in either case he doesn't need to be sending this info! And if this IS legit then my $1000 CAD immigration consultant should have said so!

Getting a record check from Grenada could take a loooooong time - it IS the caribbean! I'm hoping to be able to find someone over there that can help get it through. Sigh!

And I'm positive your file is on a desk somewhere. It's coming up soon!!! :)

Yeah if you paid a lawyer I bet it was more than that! :0 Hmmm... maybe we all need to get jobs as immigration consultants! Lol

Thanks for the pep talk. I'm going to keep the faith, and in my head I'm going to write a snarky letter to the Canadian government complaining about all this. :)

its been here in a while, but after reading some of the latest posts i must say,im lucky it wall went without any bump and i needed not spend money on any lawyers or consultants. To all those waiting, keep the faith, live your life, all shall be fine.

thanks tryrowilli you good comments are appreciated.
We decided to use a lawyer as my hubby was in the US but only for 11 months before we got married and were worried we wouldn't do the paperwork properly and if there were any complications that we would have support.

To be honest, I have found more support on here than through our lawyer. Our lawyer just says that unless its passed the 17 months on the cic site we just have to wait. ???

it's nice though seeing everyone successfully moving forward and gives us a lot of hope.

We waited 3 long months from a response from the FBI regarding my certificate of clearance as requested by CIC, today I call to find out from the FBI my finger prints were rejected ... they were not done properly ... and I have to re-submit and wait another 3 months to know if the prints will be acceptable because I have to go back in the same police station to get it done .... Seriously ???? I am so frustrated and angry ... I have to wait 30 days for the "rejection letter" by mail from the FBI it could be less they not sure. Apparently they cant take proper prints in Trinidad ....

Wow! I would be so upset too. I know it took us 3 months to get our FBI report back as well but thank goodness there was no issue there.

Stay positive. I would also send a copy of the rejection letter with your new prints in hopes that they might see that you have already waited 3 months. It is just a suggestion because I would do it just incase someone is kind enough to feel bad this is your second time submitting it.

Also when you are getting your prints done don't be afraid to look at them before you leave the police station, if they look smudged or anything ask them to redo tem for you.

Stay positive. I know it is hard.

BTW what you are your timelines?
Did the visa office ask for the prints or are you doing it as part of the application?

Ugh,
I'm getting stressed out reading about your difficulties with Immigration.
I hope you all get through in due time.

Honestly, when I was going crazy finding out how long it'll take for my Hubby's passport to come back I emailed them and CIC emailed me back directly the day the visa was issued.

This is the email for those of you who are hoping to get some information on your application.

Ensure that you state your application number or UCI etc along with a detailed e-mail.

Hope this helps !

thanks Mrs Trini! You must be so excited.... August 29th is coming up so soon!

I am thankful that at least with my hubby being in the US currently he doesn't need a visa to travel so he is actually coming up for a visit this Sunday! So excited haven't seen him since May - other than facetime! lol :P :P

At least we can see each other... I know some people on this forum have to wait for longer than that just for a visit. Especially country that require a travel visa. I have read where some couples with little children are waiting months and even years before seeing each other. I still feel blessed even though the wait looks like it will be long.

Appreciate the direction with the email - it is helpful to all the need it.

No problem girl !

And yes you guys are lucky that you two can still see one another during this whole process.

My hubby applied for a Tourist visa two years ago and was unable to come so it was only me who could travel.

Hope you get through

And yes 16 days left ! Super excited , can't believe this is happening.

Enjoy it! Can't wait for your landing story! BIG HUGS ;D ;D
