I was asked to bring in my fingerprints to the Port of Spain office on 12th of June 08 so that they can do my checks from trinidad and from my time in Canada. I don't have any criminal records. It's already been almost 6 weeks since I submitted my fingerprints.Could the end be near???

The port of Spain office started processing my application on 10 Dec 07.

I think that the end is near. Usually after the background checks are cleared the local embassy requests for passport or an interview. From then on, it might take about 2 to 6 weeks to get back the passport with the PR visa.

I have my brother's wedding to attend on the 2nd of August 08. I was praying to be able to attend it. I currently live in Port of Spain so If they do contact me soon do you think I could just go and submit my passport and get my visa on the same day??

I just don't know how long it will takt them to do the checks.

I hope you get your visa soon but 10 days is cutting it too close I think. I mean, in my case (from Indian embassy), and in quite a few countries, the local embassy asks for the passport to be sent in a mail and NOT in person after the background checks are completed. That being the case, the embassy will take at least 2 weeks to give your passport back. May be you can try logging on to the local embassy's web site and see the processing times and the FAQ's?

Pop25, I'm currently in the process of sponsoring my husband from Trinidad, so we are going through the port of spain office of course. I was just wondering if you could tell me how it all worked out for you and if you remember your timeline. I'm hearing that POS is extremely slow and some ppl said they never really heard anything back from them for over 9 months etc...and I just wanted to find out if that happens to everyone. They just started processing our application on May 3, 2010

Pop25 hasn't been active since 2008 (you can click on their username to view their profile). You might want to consider starting a new thread.

POP25, may I ask why your case has taken so long at the POS office?

From what I read in your post, your file was in process since 2007? Is that correct?

OK NVM, I didn't even notice that this post was made since back in 2008 ..sorry guys

nonetheless POP25, your help with understanding how the office works would still be appreciated
