Hello Anikish, from what I can gather your Aunt is the sponsor living in Canada. She is able to contact her MP (member of parliament) and make an enquiry on the status of the application that way. She could also send a case specific enquiry e-mail directly to the Port of Spain (POS) visa office (VO) asking them for an update. Have you spoken to her about this yet?

Again, it is a long process and many of us do not hear much along the way so the news that you have an AOR letter and an update on ecas shows that you are in the queue. Blessings.

Hi Anikish:

Have tried emailing them. I'm not that knowledgeable of the immigration system for relatives but I had a friend in your situation that emailed them everyday for a while to get some answers. Do you know what the waiting time is for relatives?

Hi doc.lady... She has had 2 ear infections since she was born (currently 19 months). The first infection took 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear up. She has had the current ear infection for about 13 days. I am finding it is now responding the treatment. She was started on Amoxicillin and changed after 3 days. She was in tons of pain up until about yesterday. Even if her shirt lightly touched the ear, she would scream. I thought maybe her ear drum ruptured, but luckily it wasn't so! She is still guarding the ear but seems like things are improving! I am starting to wonder if maybe she needs tubes inserted (as CndandTrini mentioned). The pediatrician is saying to wait and see if the infections continue... so we wait... hoping she doesn't get anymore! Thanks for asking!

Does anyone know at what point does ECAS update the applicants address to the Canadian address? If it when they return the passport or after landing? Just wondering out of curiousity.

Hi Behopeful:

I'm glad to hear that. If she gets it again it might be good for her to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist (I'm assuming she didn't have to so far). Just to ensure it is nothing more serious. You can probably discuss with your Paediatrician on their thoughts.

Hello again Anikish, 5 years is a long time, no wonder you are sad and frustrated. I do not know how "good" your Aunt's lawyer is (and to be honest some of them are not very good at all). So if your case passed the "normal processing time" in August 2013 then your Aunt most definitely needs to get her MP involved.

She can also make what is known as a "ministerial enquiry" directly to the Minister of Citizenship & Immigration (CIC) at Minister @ cic.gc.ca. Both of these actions can be directly initiated and followed up by your Aunt. If the lawyer was any good your Aunt should be getting this kind of movement/guidance from him/her already.

The MP and/or Minister's office can usually get POS to respond as they have access to the VOs. Although the PAFSO strike has had an impact on many of the overseas VOs, POS was not one of those directly affected with staff walking out or a complete shut-down like some of the others.

You can also try directly e-mailing the head of the POS High Commission, Mr. Gérard Latulippe. His e-mail is not posted anywhere; however, this one may work: gerard.latilippe@international.gc.ca

All of the applicant and sponsor info. (i.e., UCI #, application #) needs to be on any correspondence. Blessings.

Hey Folks,

It's been a while- I have some news...

So our application is now processing 20 months and we didn't hear anything after contacting CIC on numerous occasions. The case notes showed that the officer determined an interview was required July 2012...and 15 months later NO INTERVIEW DATE. I waitied patiently. I contacted my MP September 25, who responded in 2 days! and got a response from POS in about 2 days as well. POS lied and told my MP that the it was July 2013 an interview was determined when the GCMS clearly indicated that July 2012 this was done. I was enraged...my MP said we will just have to wait for the date according to what they sent to the MP. I started writing to the Minister of Cit & Imm when I see 2 emails pop in from POS with interview and docs required!!! Oct 25 is the date! Can you imagine these people though? All this time processing but only when my MP sends a note you lie then quickly give a date. That's because visa offices are not accountable to the people and do as they please when they please.

SO that's some good news guys!!!!! Hang in rest of ya!!!!!
