Hi CdnandTrini!
I did order the notes. I honestly just couldn't hold out any longer. I know we are still a while away but thought I would just see if anything is going on... Maybe even something indicating we need an interview. And when I saw GIGI had an interview in mid- May I thought maybe there is some work happening on our file (her app was transferred a month prior to our file). At what point will you order your notes? Did you receive your AOR from POS yet?
I haven't made any travel plans yet. I was planning for August so that I could celebrate my 30th birthday with my husband but te price of tickets discouraged me from booking and I wanted to see what was happening with our file before we booked. As well, our daughter will be transferring from a home daycare to a centre do that will be a big chnage and a bit more pricey to say the least. Traveling with a child is hard... All the packing and she doesn't like sitting still... Maybe I'm traumatized from our last trip!! LOL!
Any trips planned on your end? I'm sure hubby would love to see you and would help to ease his mind to hug and kiss you as you recover from cancer.
Hi Behopeful, I don't blame you for ordering the notes, I think chickie72 on the JA forum orders hers every month now. I have not received the AOR from POS yet, according to the 90 day rule that "should" happen on or around June 28th so I am keeping my eyes peeled and harassing hubby to check his e-mails, junk mail, Post office etc. So we will not order notes probably until a few months more if I can stand it :). My husband is not a computer geek like me and it is only since we have met and basically been forced into a long distance relationship that he now has his own computer (a gift from me - surprise, surprise :)) he SKYPES now, e-mails, instant messages etc. I do not know what we would do without SKYPE.

I did see some good prices in July for trips to POS on WestJet $430 return, I think they are running a special if you can depart and return on a weekday. We all know the pain of saying goodbye at the airport right? My stomach flops just thinking about it - yucchhh..... And yes travelling with a child is not ever ideal is it ;D My birthday is in August as well; however I may be starting a new job soon so may have to wait until Christmas and then the prices really soar. So come on POS give us lots of PPRs and visas before December!! Blessings.

Hi millslu, I have read that many people land with 2 passports as one is close to expiry and the VOs stick the visas in there but the new passport has the longer deadline. I know in Canada we can keep our expired passports and thankfully I kept mine (and I advise all posters to do the same if possible in their countries) as I used it to photocopy my travel dates along with my boarding passes (which I also thankfully kept but some people do not) when submitting our PR application. So if you can keep both you may want to. Not sure how things are done in SL. Blessings.

thanks @canadatrini but I have only one passport for now, I just don't want for them to ask for my passport and I have the none machine readable and they have to send it back and ask for machine readable. my country was asked to switch but our deadline is October 2013.

My honour and pleasure to send thanks and good news @ Zouk Princesse, it is true, miracles do happen. Actually this is not my family's first day at the cancer rodeo :) unfortunately. My family has been hit hard in the past 6 years with my Dad's passing in 2008, my younger brother in 2010, older brother diagnosed in 2012 and almost died when I was in Trinidad at my first attempt to marry my hubby so I had to fly home quickly and by God's grace he survived to walk out of the hospital after 6 weeks of Doctor's telling us he was not going to make it out alive. Now back at work and amazing!!

So back to Trini for me to marry my hubby who was my backbone of steel along with our Heavenly Father during all of this. Then after we married I fly home again, we submit our PR app in Feb. 2013 I am approved to sponsor in March 2013 and in May 2013 I am diagnosed with cancer requiring immediate surgery. So my point is that God can give us peace and strength to confront what we never thought we could and He is still in the business of miracles.

Zouk P. your recent posts have been so very helpful, comforting and inspiring to all of us still stuck in the immigration quicksand and I note especially for our Miss D. who is very stressed at this point and needing that extra bit of - yes it will be ok. Well to be honest many of us are needing that now so thank you very much for making time to be here more frequently to support and encourage. "We think we can, we think we can, and some days....ughhhh. We. Just. Can't.

Without the help of our forum brothers and sisters that is. So, many blessings to you and your family and for reaching back to pay it forward. Much appreciated by all of us. :)
Awww, how sweet of you :) I'm happy to help! POS is a particularly difficult office to deal with, so we need to support each other, it's the only way to stay sane!

hi forum

been so busy for the past few days. I need to ask a quick question. in my country our passport have been recalled for a machine readable passport, and all recalls expire October 2013 but my old passport doesn't expire till 2015. since I just return home its gonna take me like forever to get the new one, and as u can see I should be getting my COPR very soon. could I still get my visa on my old passport and would I even be able to travel on my old passport, even if its not expires neither pass the date for recall?

any help in this situation will be very gratefull thank you.
Hmmm... Your situation is tricky, since technically you have until Oct before the recall takes full effect. I remember with the last forum member, he did have to get the new passport as POS would not accept the old one. You could send a CSE to them, there's a chance they will answer, as this is a valid question. You could also phone them. They will not give out application specific info over the phone, but this is a generic question, if the person who answers is in a good mood, she/he should be able to answer this for you. The ideal thing would be to get your new passport right now, how long does it take? In Dominica it takes only about 2 weeks. If there's any way you can get it expedited, that would be the safest route. Then when you get PPR, send in the new passport with a copy of the old one and a cover letter explaining why you had to change it. Since the recall has been issued, POS is well within their rights to decide not to issue a visa on the old one, so we're really dealing with their discretion here, and that can always go either way.

thanks so much for that @zouk it is a troubling question but the situation here is so bad because we now have to fix up the mess the government made years ago with birth cert and baptismal so its chaotic in my country and expensive now to fix old problems. before we apply for the passport we have to go though name changes, languages, misspelled, letter missing etc etc any little mistake our birth or bapt have we have to spend tons of money to get it fixed. anyways am gonna try to call,i did call CIC but they said it was fine I can use the old as long as its valied but am not trusting them, so am gonna try to call Trinidad, see if I can get a solid answer. I now have to pay a lawyer money for me to change a name I changed when I was a kid.crazy stuff.

Wow, that's messed up man. Now I understand why you'd prefer not to go through that hassle! I read back on the forum posts, there were two people that needed to get the new machine readable passports. They were both from Guyana and the PPRs issued at that time actually specified that citizens of Guyana need the new passports. I am wondering if they do not single out your country, maybe you'll be ok? Keep trying to contact POS via phone and CSE, and in the meantime, if anyone you know gets a PPR from POS, ask if it mentions anything about your country needing the new passports.

By ordering the notes it helps me to set short goals and just make it to te next month. If that makes sense. I guess you will be sending a CSE soon if you don't hear anything from them. My husband is no good with computers either. He really tries hard! I must say I get easily frustrated because I am fairly computer savvy and I walk him through so much in the phone!

$430 is reasonable. I am fairly flexible with dates so ill start checking west jet again. My original plans was to travel in August and again at Christmas if he wasn't home. I have enough airmiles to get a free flight so I was hoping to use that at Christmas! My daughter will be 2 in late January and that means paying for a seat for her after that so ill take advantage as much as I can.

What part of Trinidad is your husband from?

That's a very complex situation Millslu! My husband had the old passport from Trinidad. Prior to him leaving Canada he updated it at the embassy here. It took about 6 weeks for the new passport to come to the embassy in Toronto. I hope that POS will at least issue the VISA for you to travel. It's good that you are on top of it though and sort everything out before they request PP.

BeHopeful. im still around. Just waiting hoping something will come through. And the strike to be over
I think i will order my notes too like everyone else. I did try looking at other forum pages to see how to do it.
Does my husband have to sign a paper allowing me to request them. Like it seems difficult to order them.

But really it dosent take over 2 months to do research from the interview. Say yes or no, she knows her answer, WHY does it just have to sit in a pile on her desk. Like there is literally zero point of it.

Hi Everyone!

First of all, CdnandTrini - Thank God you're doing well! I'm so happy everything went so well and you're on the mend.

Millslu and Gigi, you're on the right track and as frustrating as it must be to wait at this stage, your times are coming.

I have some news, we actually received our AOR yesterday! I was assuming that we wouldn't get one b/c of the consensus that they don't send them all that often and they've been so slow/non-existent lately. But sure enough, the hubby got the email from POS saying we rec'd your application for PR on Jan 21... I think I saw in a previous post that this is indeed the AOR. Still a long road ahead of us, but it is definitely a good feeling that things are proceeding, slowly or not.

For everyone else that I haven't named specifically and those above, I've been quiet b/c this is still fairly early in the process for me so I don't really have a lot to provide in terms of knowledge but I'm here (and my hubz through my updates) and we're supporting you all 100%, just as you are for us. It does mean a lot.
