LOL I wish I was sleeping... I was at the hospital "workin"

Ok.. so how to order notes.. this info was passed onto me by computergeek when I got ready to order mine... here it is:

If you're in Canada, then you are making a "Privacy Act" request and there is no fee. They seem to now consider a mailing address in Canada sufficient.

The forms are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-personal.asp

You want a copy of the "electronic notes" NOT the "case status". There is no fee for a privacy act request.

...

So.. copy and paste that link and open the website.. Then your wife (since she's in Canada) should fill out the top form (click the top link) called: ■CIC’s Access to Information and Personal Information Request Form (IMM 5563)

Since she's ordering notes on YOUR file, she will need your "consent" so you will have to print out the third link form: •Consent for an Access to Information and Personal Information Request [IMM 5744]. YOU have to sign that and give her permission. You can then scan and email it to your wife or mail it to her.

She should mail in the FIRST form and your consent form together to the address on the forms and your notes come (email is faster) in 30 days from the date they get your forms.

As for how to make a CSE: Go here: www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/missions.asp and find your country in the list. Click on the first (of 3) links for Port of Spain beside your country name. When the new page comes up, scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "enquiries" and click on the link for "Case Specific". And follow the instructions from there. The info you are putting into the CSE is for the APPLICANT (you) and you are only supposed to write like 250 characters in the CSE box where you say whatever you are writing about.

The website gives me problems too (a lot).. you just gotta keep trying.. I tried for days to send a CSE once.

The notes are not actually that hard to order.. the biggest pain is getting your form that you have to sign to your wife (fax or scan or whatever). Your consultant may be able to help but he'll probably need the same form from you...

No idea what POS is doing.

To anyone who has received an official AOR from them did they ask to submit additional proof within 30 days of the letter?

Fromadistance... I can imagine your heart skipped a beat for a second! Did the letter come via snail mail or email? Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will get an AOR letter in the next few weeks because our application was a few weeks behind yours. Is the letter saying 6-12 months from the time the application was received in POS? Did others letter say that?
One step closer and even though it isn't the end, it's a little closer!

Oh yes and he was so nonchalant about it. Like he called and said oh I just got a letter from CIC. I'm like WHAT DID THEY SAY!!! LOL...He started to give a summary in his own words. I'm like oh no you have to read me the letter word for word!!

It came via snail mail. What did did you get approval? I got sponsorship approval December 19th and according to the AOR letter, the file as rec'd in their office Jan 3rd so roughly 2 weeks. So you should be getting yours shortly hopefully! It says 6-12 months from the time it was rec'd in POS. I am curious to know if the AOR letter from the others said that too.

I dont know why they sent it snail mail! The letter was dated March 3rd and he only rec'd it today. It also states that if we havent submitted proof that our relationship is genuine (letters, cards, emails, sponsor's visits etc) that we should do it within 30 days of the letter. We already submitted proof with our application, does that mean we have to submit additional proof??

Hey Lady!!! Congrats!

My AOR came by email and it did not state anything about the timelines or the sending additional proof within 30 days. But I have heard of other people getting this same type of AOR as yours.

You only have to send in additional proof if you did not send in much/any in the first place. The fact that they said that in the letter does not mean they didn't think you sent enough. It just means if you ARE going to send more, to do it in the next 30 days because otherwise it will be annoying for them to sort out after that as your application will be somewhere along the processing line.

11-10-2013 YAHOOOO!
Fromadistance... Did you mention in an earlier message that you had received email correspondence from POS at one point too? I think you had sent them an email and they confirmed your app was received. Guess this just firms things up for you.
Our application was received in Mississauga December 13. We got a letter January 7 saying our app was received in Mississauga and on January 11 I was approved for stage 1 and the letter stated our app would be forwarded to POS from there. Slightly behind your app but close enough to give me an idea where we stand! I really hope we get a letter of AOR.
Send all the information you can from now! Anything will help I guess. I forgot to send my insurance stuff stating my husband is the beneficiary. I will have some other pictures from our vacations that we've recently took and plane tickets but that is about it.

Another question... Do you think it will reflect poorly on our app if I have listed my husband and daughter as te beneficiary of insurance and have left my mom as the trustee for my daughter because my husband isn't in Canada? I've left a larger percentage to my husband and the only reason is to make sure our daughter is taken care of, just incase. Should I attach a letter explaining this... Any thoughts? Thanks everyone!
