Let me just clarify, my background check on CIC was N/A until yesterday where it changed to in on progress again. It's when I check on ECAS that it says decision made. From my understanding, CIC was just stay as background in process until you get the PPR email, send documents and then actually land.

I'm also a fairly simple case I guess, I'm a sole applicant and haven't been asked for any additional documents at any time and am from visa exempt country so imagine security checks aren't that difficult.

can you share your timeline please

same here buddy.......march 31 application received......i dont think we will get any changes until july last week......i hv no idea wt the f... are these ircc agents doing with our files and i really feel bad for the JAN applicants coz many hv not even got their DM or PPR yet......

I was 17 when i came to canada. Have absolutely nothing to do with my background backhome. Still i am 15 months and 20 days BG in not in process yet. So silly

my passport was sent for stamping on 13 June and was received by cic on 14 June but still the returning tracker is not activated...
anybody knows whats the proper timeline for stamping of passport like other processing times?

They have dedicated resources who deal with GCMS notes. No CIC officer would do this job

My friend had the same case but was a jan applicant, everything was finished before october.

I have a similar background to you as well. CIC received my application on March 31st, 2016.
I have an immigration consultant so I can't check MyCIC unless she goes in and looks. On June 12th she looked and it showed 'Not applicable' for Background Check. My ECAS doesn't have anything beyond 'Medical results have been received'.

BC says "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information." Updated this morning (June 28, 2017).
Hopefully PPR soon, Can't wait now...
