All, my package was received on August 28th in Sydney, I got my packet back today (with UCI#) saying I need to attach my birth certificate. I had my birth certificate in the original documents mailed to them and in the document they sent back. I am absolutely perplexed and have wasted almost 40 days. Is it that someone wasn't checking the documents properly ?

One thing, I had a middle name on my birth certificate which has since been dropped. AFricans generally have many middle names to where it becomes in practical to transfer all the names to stuff like passport. I have maintained one official middle name on ALL my documents - it matches with my passport, my drivers license, my transcript, IELTS , degree, current US work permit. The place the extra middle name shows up is on my birth certificate which has the other names too. Could this be why it was sent back? How do I fix this problem ?

Unless someone just simply missed the birth certificate that was attached and number in line with how we were told to align the docs.

I think it is just for different name appears in your birth certificate, For that you need to prove them, the birth certificate name and name on you all document is yours, For that you need give an affidavit, Rest you can call to CIC and ask your concern question or any other have face the same issue will reply on this post.

Hi,

CIC does accepts other documents in lieu of the birth certificate. If you believe that CIC returned your application because of a possible mismatch of your name as it appears on your birth certificate and rest of the documents, you can submit the following:

SECONDARY SCHOOL RECORDS THAT CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:

1) APPLICANT'S NAME
2) DATE OF BIRTH
3) NAME OF PARENT/PARENTS

IF YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE WITH ALL 3 CRITERIA, WE REQUIRE AN AFFIDAVIT STATING ALL OF THIS INFORMATION OR THAT A BIRTH CERTIFICATE CANNOT BE ATTAINED".

Thanks I gave you a start you've been helpful. Just a hint, the name on the BC is not wrong, it just contains more middle names that I've never used. It also contains my first and middle name that I use in order and my last name too

My sense is that IF the problem was your middle name mismatch, the officer will mention it exactly like that in your letter rather than just saying you did not submit a birth certificate and leave you to GUESS the actual problem.
I think the officer simply made a human error and did not notice your birth certificate in the application package.
You might want to just call CIC and double check.
Good luck

Yes. I got an email CPC ottawa afterwards saying they have my application and will let me know once they have a file number. the generic reply that they gave everyone else.
