Hopefully I could have it earlier than that. Anyway I still have 3 wks left with my WP, worst scenario I could send my WP extension thru paper application while waiting for PNP assuming it will be a nomination, this way I can still have my implied status.

hi,
my wife is going to apply (skilled worker) for bc pnp in Vancouver, our friend will look for us an employer whom my wife will be working. question, what are the stages/steps: we will submit the necessary docs including job offer fr the employer, then , bc pnp will give her AOR(file number), then will wait for 5-6 mons to process. with regards of the visa, you mentioned working visa?? why there is an expiration of it, can you explain ? with regards of the spouse (me) and our kids (dependents) and the permanent residence, can u also explain? processing fee is only for the applicant (wife) amt to C$550, how abt the spouse and the dependent children? thank you for hearing me, hope u can reply. tnx

Hi Tonlot,

Just clarifying that your wife need to have an employer and a job offer first before she can file for a BC PNP. I might be wrong, but as far as I know you have to be working with them for certain months before you can apply. What normally happen is, once you have an employer they will apply for a labour market opinion and once that approve, you can then file for a work permit and temporary resident visa if you're not from a visa exempt country. This will be a closed WP, likely will be for 2-3 yrs. The BC PNP part once you'll be nominated you can then file for your PR, but if your running out of permit you can use that nomination to file for extension of WP until you'll have your PR.

For the PNP fee, yes I think it's only the applicant, ( mine was paid by my employer), you can refer to the cic website for the PR application. Hope this helps.

Hi Everyone,

I would like to share my experienced with BC PNP.

It's been quite a stressful 2 months not knowing what my future gonna be like her in Canada before I received my nomination. I would like to break it down as to my advises, as I did my research too and phoned CIC, when I was nearing the end of my WP.

1. When you file for your BC PNP make sure you fill the form properly and have relevant documents as much as you can, esp. if you have limited WP left, you can't afford to have a mistake, cause this will delay the application. When I submitted mine, right after I rcvd. a file no. good thing I review my application and found out, I made some error, I immediately resend them a new updated application form, which they then added right away to my file.

2. You need to have a plan B,C etc. if things will not work out the way it should be. If you're nearing the time of your WP email them first, ask for an update. My options then were:
A. Apply for a work permit extension thru paper application, this will buy me time as it takes longer to process and hopefully by then I will have my nomination and mail is ASAP. The only thing that you have to consider with this is to assume, that you have a good chance of getting nominated and you're near the end of the PNP processing time, cause the unfortunate part will be, if you get rejected you'll lose right away your status here. If you're still within 90 days from the expiration of your work permit, then you can apply for restoration but apparently it will take another 16 weeks to have it restored as per the CIC agent that I spoke to.

B. Apply for change of status to visitor, but you need to have this status before the expiry of your WP then stop working at the end of your WP, right now processing time is 14 days. This way if your WP expired while waiting for your PNP, you're still legally allowed to stay in Canada, and when your nomination arrived you can then apply for restoration of WP, but make sure you confirm with your employer first, that this is the case. I am not so sure about PNP if you will lose your application if you're now a visitor's visa.

3. I did asked CIC about renewing work permit by the border, you can for as long as you're from a visa exempt. countries but they don't recommend cause they're not expert on that, so I just filed mine online.

Hope my experience shed some lights, as to some of your questions.

Good luck everyone and be positive always......

Hi Everyone,

I just checked my online application for work permit, today being the last day of my old permit. Glad to see that it's been approved, now just waiting for the actual permit to arrive in the mail.

Thanks.
