@ Pair, @ Holygun: The news is only talking about those in Foreign service. Foreign service is different from local service. They have different unions. It will affect Canadian Embassies in other countries but not CPP-Ottawa.
Except if those in Canada then decide to join the strike...which i know they won't. From my understanding of Foreign service, the officials gets money for living outside of their country (their comfort zone). They get paid based on the country they reside in. Moreso, they are representing the govt in other countries. Their families are taken care of, they get free accommodation (govt pays for them), their children go to school for free (govt pays for them), they get cooks, maids and drivers. Imagine, someone do your laundries for you, cooks for you & drive you around. You don't pay for house rents or mortgages. So, most of them tend to keep their monies without being spent. I guess that's why the Govt is not paying them more than those inside. These services are not enjoyed by the officials working in Canada. So I doubt if they will stick their heads in it. If CIC in Canada joins, then CRA, StatCAN, Health Can, etc too will join. This is just my thoughts on the issue. I may be wrong about it.

I included the link for information only. I believe that Coshx is right about CIC Canada not taking immediate actions regarding this issue. This information was placed as reference for applicants on these offices. I am still confidence that more PR will come soon, particularly for Jan, Feb and March applicants as they are next and/or in line already.

Hello Guys;

I went to the CIC page to check the status of my application. I saw that I have two addresses:
Your current home address Your current mailing address
Previously I had just one address.
Anybody knows why this happened?

All of these news, like the one posted here; will not impact us as majority of the hiring at the CPP-O is done on the contract basis to clear the backlog and most likely these employees are not unionized. We just need to stay positive and wait for two to three months. Hopefully, in this time this waiting nightmare will be over.

Hey Fafool, mine has always been like that

I just got my GCMS notes, exactly after 30 days.

My file was last touched on May 6th and due date for a lot of things was put as June 6 which has already passed.

Eligibility: Passed
Criminality: Not Started
Security: Not Started

There were some notes left in the notes section about the file. Very specific information and the most latest note was left on May 6th that is : "File ready for review by VO"

I guess GCMS notes only have information till the date applied, hence mine notes only have information till May 6. Just hoping for that best that things would have moved after that.

Just wanted to update you guys.

Thanks,
Gurjaspal

I just talked to my MP regarding the status of my file. they said bg checks are in process and medicals were extended for another year... they said current processing time is 15-18 months and I can check back in mid august for next update... so ridiculous and frustrating ... dont know what to say about this now ... complete waste of time

After 15 months, My application changed to in process. Could anyone tell me what's the average waiting time to the next step? What are the hill they doing in the past 15 months...
my goddness

by the way, my medical is expired. As they said, they try to extend the validity of my medical, otherwise they will inform me to redo it. Do I need to redo it and send a new one to them or just wait for their message?

If you're an in-Canada applicant and did your medical test in Canada, by all means your medical would have been extended. And no one here really knows what the average time would be to get your PPR. If you were following this thread you wouldn't have asked that question in the first place! And if somebody tells you a time frame, he is outright lying to you. Trust me on this. :)

Dear Gurjaspal

Did you order GCMS from outside Canada or you are already in Canada. Is there any way I can order it from USA.

Thanks

may be the officers handling our file are on summer vacation... everyone would like to take their 3 weeks paid vacation during the summer

Hey edmontonbound,
Can u plz tell me how to send personal history and copy of passports with the email cic sent us? And what should we write down in the subject of the mail? I will b thankful if u reply early..

one of my colleague was told that he has to stay for 3 years after landing when he went for flag polling ... he didn't sign anything ... isn't it true that when we were nominated we were told by the province that our Pr application were to be finalized by federal government that is cic and not the province itself ?? and a permanent resident of canada has the right to move and work in any province he wishes to... i want it to be clear before the time comes when i decide to move out
