Got our "no record found" response back yesterday. FBI is definitely faster than when we made our request last year. Only 4 weeks start to finish including return mailing time.

Sent (Fedex): March 25
Prints recieved: March 28
CC charged: Apr 7
Postmarked: Apr 20
Received: Apr 27

For us, we sent from Argentina.

Sent on March 11,
Received by FBI on March17,
Credit Card charged on March 29,
Received the FBI letter in Québec on April 8!

Was pretty fast! I was scared too at the beginning since the delay on the website was something like 14 weeks..!! but then it got updated to 4 weeks i think! If only the visa office could be quicker too! :P

Good luck!

4 week turnaround for us as well:

Sent via Fedex (from Canada): March 29 (paid fee by money order)
Prints received by FBI: March 30
FBI report dated: April 21
Postmarked: April 22
In our hands: April 28

So relieved the prints were acceptable and the process went much faster than expected. Good luck!

If they charge the credit card should we assume that the finger prints are good?

Please let me know.

Regards,
Deepak

No, they accept the payment whether the prints are good or not.
However, if your first request couldn't be processed they will defer the payment for the second request.

6 weeks, and we paid via money order.

Sent on 6 jan and received on 15 feb..

I didn't attach a cover letter. I sent a money order for $18.00, the application from the FBI webstite and my finger print card. Will I have any problems since I didn't send a cover letter with it? On the application there's a box that says reason...I just put Canadian Immigration Spousal Sponsorship. Anyone think there will be an issue?

I'm sure it will be ok - your reason was stated clearly enough. Hope you receive the report soon! Good luck.

P.S.: If you are really concerned, you can email the FBI office directly with your question. I recall emailing around the 3 week mark to follow up on status and they responded really quickly.

Will update this post when/if I get the background check back.

Mailed May 16
Don't know when received
Card charged June 15

Avila - I didn't send a cover letter either. I didn't know it was asked for. I sent them the fingerprint card, the money order, and the filled form from their website.

I sent mine on 4/18 (I think), and the date on the letter is 5/19, the date of the search was 5/12. Unfortunately I didn't receive them (in Canada) until the beginning of this month.

Will probably be sending out everything on Monday but I was curious if anyone knows whether the 3 months begins on 5/19 or 5/12.

Perhaps not such a bad idea sbwv09. I am going to visit Canada in 5 days so I will be able to contact CIC then. I will call the FBI before then and see what they think (maybe a different person can recommend, that last lady... not so sure!)

You can also look into getting your fingerprints done digitally, sometimes this helps when the ink-based fingerprinting method does not work.

Good luck

I'm really hoping mine comes soon, my medical is on the 24th...If I get everything by then, I'm going to FedEx everthing to the hubby...Anyone know if he is able to FedEx the Entire Application? I really want to avoid any issues with the Canadian Post.

I sent mine out on June 10th.. I didn't think of registering my mail, so I don't know when it was received (should have read this thread first!!!)

Anyone received their FBI certificate recently? I hope they're processing it fast.. It seems that the current trend is about 4-6 weeks.
