Congrats RobsLuv!

I called again today. My prints were accepted and mail will be sent no later than Wed, Sept 1st. So relieved!!!

Timeline:
FBI App. sent: June 25th 2010
Received: July 6th
Credit Card Charged: August 18th

Good Luck all!

I mailed mine on July 6, they were accepted and going to be mailed back to me no later than next Friday so I should get them by September 10. That didnt even take 10 weeks!

on the 7th week they confirmed they were accepted and going to mail them out :)

Im not sure if having a second request done speeds up the process ;D but none of my prints were rejected ever. I went to the city police station and got them done... they honestly were not even that good but got accepted

Good Luck to everyone else who is waiting. BTW i am in the USA (New Jersey)

Mine took the 9 and 1/2 weeks.
Sent them Jan 11, 2010 and got them March 23, 2010

I am going to receive my second FBI Certificate next week. The first one I mailed in with my application was expired by 2-3 weeks. The IO might or might not ask for another one. So far they have not asked for any additional information. Do you think i should mail out my certificate when i get it or wait until they ask? They might not even ask for it depends on how strict the IO is.

Debating on whether i should hang on to it and maybe send a copy or something.

I keep debating getting one for me.
Mine will expire 10/8.

It seems like it takes 2 months on average for Buffalo to look at your file after they were sent it.
So that means, it'd only give them a few days breathing room.

I thought the requirement was that the clearance had to be dated within three months of submission. Since you have already cleared sponsorship approval I don't think you are likely to be asked for another, unless your app takes an extremely long period to process and they want to see if you've been good while you waited. ;)

everyone's expires along the way unless the visa processing time for your country is like 2-3 months! but i only got it just incase because it was 2 weeks expired im getting it in mail next week and holding on to it if buffalo requests i will mail it in. that seems to be the right thing since they lose everything :P

I received my FBI Clearance Certificate today! Took exactly 8 weeks from the time they received it. I called yesterday and the lady said, it will be mailed out no later than Sept. 1st, i.e., Today!

Timeline:

FBI Application sent by courier: June 25th 2010
Received by FBI, Clarksburg, WV: July 6th 2010
Credit Card charged, $18: August 18th
Process complete, Letter Dated: August 25th 2010
Delivered to me in India: Sept. 1st 2010 (USPS First Class Mail)

i received mine in the mail as well!

Mailed beginning of July... Completed Aug 26. Received on Sept 1.

Only took 8 weeks... So their time lines are exaggerated in worst cause scenarios

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the understanding that the FBI certificates expire after awhile?! Is this correct?

OMG...I am in Jamaica and am required to submit FBI clearance because I lived in the US for 18 months. It takes an average of 11 months to process in Kgn, according to CIC, if my FBI certificate expires before my application is even considered, will I have to re-apply and wait another 3 months to get them back?? ???

Mailed request by USPS on July 19th and received FBI letter on September 20th.

I am in the UK and about to send my FBI application in having just had the fingerprints done by my local UK police station (for GBP 66!) on the downloaded form. Have filled in the credit card payment form but was wondering about return postage? will they just mail it back or do I need a self addressed envelope or FedEx account?

has anyone had theirs simply mailed back by regular mail after having paid the fee by card?

The fee you are paying for on the form is for them to process your fingerprint request.
If you want it returned by FedEx (which I recommend) then you need to sign up for a FedEx account. On the form there should be spot to fill in your FedEx account number. They will then use your account number to send it back to you using FedEx. They will charge your credit card by doing this but we weren't charged until a week or two later. It was about $40 CAD for us. If you don't use FedEx then they will send it by regular mail and they will not charge you for that.

By the way, if there is not a spot to fill out your account number on the form and you do want them to send it FedEx then you can do the following:
1) Write a letter, either by hand or on computer
2) On the letter state your full name, FedEx account number, and any other identification information you can give them.
3) Ask them to add your Fedex account number to your file and for them to send it back to you using your account number
4) Then handsign it (they won't accept a request on paper without the signature)
5) Include the letter with your FBI clearance and it should be sent back by FedEx

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
