"Medical Received" means that everything is ok for the medical. The line does not appear until medical is clear

Does anyone understand what exactly happens after the line "medicals received" shows up? Are there more checks or is it simply an issue of visa officers getting to the files for visa issuance? I suppose quotas for each country might play a role as well. We are at Vienna, which processes a number of countries.

I guess security and background checks are in process during this time. But varies from case to case.

Thanks! I guess we are all trying to get a sense of how long... ;-) But there appears to be no pattern.

Security check will be conducted by the RCMP, who sends back the result to CIC. It normally takes 1-2 months per applicant. However, enhanced check would be required for applicants with military and government background, which will take longer period.

Anyone knows how to change parents' mailing address (files in Ottawa)? I sent an e-mail to CPP-O two months ago, but E-Cas is still showing my parents old address.

Send an e-mail to CPP-O. They will do the updates.

That's helpful, thanks. I did not know that this is what happens.

Just found this - it explains in detail the various checks:

Their are 2 places you can do update online.

if you are Representative, use your UCI & update the address, if parents also have UCI, then main client login & update address (if in Canada), I did it for them while they were here. It took 2-3 weeks to see update. However if they change address back home, then I would recommend email & fax same time. I see current CPC-O fax response is 4 weeks.

Follow the address change process on CIC online services. You could also send a FAX to Ottawa with proper signatures.

Hi guys,

I am desperate looking for some help....
My parents's file was transferred to Ottawa on March 1st. And since then - nothing - no medical request or anything. More than that - when I ordered Foss notes it seems like nobody did even thouch my file - because it doesn't show police certificates on file which I sent with all additional documents.
I sent another Foss request to see the progress and guess what - it's been over 40 days and I still have not received anything......I just don't know what to do any more...it's been more than 4 month waiting for madecials.....

Any ideas whould be appreciated!
