5,000 for 2014 - there goes the backlog for late 2009+ applicants, thats 5K will be eaten up by 2009 apps itself

So what happens to those who haven't been approved or file not started ? for eg,. Suin - do they have to demonstrate as per new rules?

Ohh no.. 5000 for 2014 mean's they will start taking new applications from 2014 and limit it to 5000 for that year.. It doesnt say that they are going to lower the higher admission rate! The rate i guess would remain the same until the backlog gets cleared!

According to Phase 2 they will only accept 5000 in 2014 because they dont wana increase the backlog again .meanwhile reducing the backlogged they already created. But according to phase 1 or the news release before that i think they are gonna issue lots of visa this year so reduce the backlog to 50% by the end of 2013(before they start the new program)

Yes its only for 2014 I think. This time I completely agree with Jason kennedy as he needs to make our system little harder coz we dont wana see this backlog forever.

Thanks to everyone for help.. Any update Hira

Congratulations on getting med request.
This is not strange you will get only one request for meds and one passport submission from LVO and only to rep if there is one or to P applicant.

I don't understand the receipt and med letter ,what was that?

Action plan that canada is going to follow from 2014.. Today's news bulletin:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2013/2013-05-10b.asp

The main points are that they will limit the application to 5000/year , Increase income requirements and change the maximum age of dependents to 18 years!

Glad we all applied at the right time! Phew..

I was thinking they will release in November 2013.You are right ,we wre really lucky.
In future the dep should be a pre teen when prospective sponsor leaves for Canada.LOL.In very rare cases it is possible. It means practically very few dependents in future applications.

Worst thing is people applying on skilled or other categories can't add their over 18 children on their application.too bad.

The 5000 is the new applications that they would accept. doesn't effect the applications that are already in queue.

Lol yes.. Very few dependents would be eligible for it and no parent would be willing to leave their children alone back in their home country.. :-$.. They have thought of such points which would automatically reduce the amount of appplicants .. :-!..

Ya, I misread it

I actually agree with dependants age factor

I agree that dependent age thing is quite unfortunate, that could change the future of whether my spouses parents and brother ever come to Canada or not. :(

....they refuse a lot too, at 22, ur done with studies but their rule abt continuation had so many holes that folks waited 5 years just to hear that they are not dependants so its a bitter pill but I feel 18 is suitable

is dere any one who got rejectd jst under 22 f age at the time filling application nw?????????

No
I never heard of a under 22 dep being rejected. The whole family is another thing.

Hey Everyone!

I'm glad i found this site!

SO here's my story.... I started my application for my parents back in 2007. I received a letter back on May 1st 2012 stating that we werent eligible to sponsor because we do not meet the income requirements but they still sent it to Vienna office. We paid for all the fees that were associated and even paid for the permanent resident fee for my parents. I emailed the Vienna office stating that back in 2006 we did not make as much money as we do now and forwarded them a copy of our current t4's. It will be 6 years this year that this application is in process. Vienna has had the file for a year now. my question is, has anyone experienced this? Will their be a good outcome where my parents will be approved? HELP.

thanks!

you must have gone through good lawyer after May 2012.

My mom landed in Canada yesterday!
Thanks for the support this forum provided (and will continute to provide!).
