Yeah that i agree.. There is no particular pattern.. But usually they issue visa's to majority of the people before their medicals expire.. And some cases which require prolonged checks , gets shelved for a longer time.. It's all luck and also depends on the officer which is dealing with ur file.. All we can do is pray and do our estimations 8).. Yeah alot of patience is required for it no doubt and waiting is the essential part! Lol ..

• substantially dependent for financial support on their parent(s); and
• continuously enrolled in and actively pursuing a course of study at an accredited post-secondary institution when the application is received by the CPC-V and when the visa is issued.

Dependent child over 22 years of age and unable to be financially self supporting due to a physical or mental condition
Since before the age of 22, the person has been

• substantially dependent for financial support on their parent(s) when the application is received by the CPC-V; and
• continues to be substantially dependent upon their parent(s) when the visa is issued.

Dependent children of dependent child When the application is received and when the visa is issued.


Based on the above information on CIC website, my view is as follows:

***If dependent child is under 22 years of age at the time of sponsorship application then age is Locked in. Can be working or employed and no need of continuing to be a student at the time of visa issuance but must remain unmarried.


***A dependent child over 22 years of age and full time student at the time of application must continue to be a student until visa is issued. May be married but must be able to demonstrate dependence on parents at the time of application and also at the time of visa issuance. Can be employed but must remain to be dependent on parents for major part of education and other expenses

I have my sister as dependent. she was few days short of her 22nd bday wen i applied (CIC-M) received application. she has done 2 post- sec diplomas, one degree after that and now doing Phd.
so... i m very much confused now...all i hv known fm people arnd was tht it has to be FULL-TIME studies, and SUBSTANTIAL FINANCIAL DEPENDENCE. she has also qualified for fellowship for phd...can she take it?? she is not married or in any other relationship??

Some time now they are just sending one form for the principal appplicant only.Some time they send hard copy too later by mail for every member and sometime not. Its kinda normal practice now.Don't worry just book the appointment and go ahead with medicals.Few people did that already.
Your friends are right ,before they use to send forms with photographs ,now things are changed.

But if we don’t have all the documents in our hands at the time of medical how the doctor would get those documents.
Do they have a central network system where they just enter the file# and get all the documents and detail for each person?

I called IOM call center and the agent said you should have documents for all the persons.

Can please someone provide infoon GCMS. In particular what sort of information can be accessed through GCMS. I have sponsored my father and his file is in New Delhi. We recently submitted the passport and medical was received by them. In light of this application will GCMS be useful? Also how do you request the GCMS access. Thanx in advance.

BTW, I believe the "lock-in date" has a lot of importance and it should be used as a reference in any correspondence with the visa office.
But keep documents which show them as studying/enrolled in fulltime course or employed.
The only thing is not to get into relationship and ensure they live WITH the sponsored parents. If medicals are done, that is a good sign.

Getting an update from MP office periodically is (sometimes) beneficial.

Dear Friend

just tell me: I persume, your medical was also demanded and processed by CPP, now your parents in india got a letter from CPP-O to submit their Pports to cpp-O, How will they send it to cpp-o. i heard indian doesn't allow that,

since my parents are on a visit to me in Canada, and our file is at CPP-O, with they ask us medical and passport submission to cpp-O

Has any one got their visa stamped from CPP-O so for please update me.


My timeline so far:
Applied for parents sponsorship in December 2007
Acknowledgement letter in March 2007 or smth like that
A letter requesting additional documents (as per the Nov 5 2011 announcement): November 28 2011

Still in process of completing the forms and getting supporting documents from parents (who are currently in their home country). Turned out to be a tedious process in our case to get this done, hopefully I will not be too late :-(

Any of my Expert friend can tell me:

(1) Does the E-stuts display change with Medical, PP request, document request

(2) if your case was transferred to CPP Ottawa: Did you receive Medical & Passport Request from CPP
(3) and where did you send your medical & PPort to CPP OR LVO and
(4) was the passport stamped from CPP or Your LVO and were sent you back

it is a big confusion for us
