I think you still have time to get medical request. user828 has a different situation as he did not get the emails (went to wrong email address, as he found out from GCMS notes)

I advised her to do it, I mean ND will ask anyways. The reason I am saying this as ND never asked for PCC but I sent it and its all in the notes attached so why not with meds, they will ask eventually so this will save her family 2 months, once ND gets it, they will just put it in file

I could be wrong but thats how I see it

kandel, get GCMS anyways to check file progress

You know how ND is famous for giving visas close to expiry date..what if i just do meds now and then i recieve actual request say in march'13. Then there will be a problem also they want us to send that letter back with papers you can send proof(gcms etc) i have nothing. i should have ordered gcms earlier just did not want to upset them

Regarding Medicals: I have read on CIC website not to go for Medical Examination unless requested.

I see it this way, say your folks and siblings went for it, meds forms are the same ( as u saw ) and DMP takes a month to send to ND, it goes in their processing and then the file in 2 months - meanwhile you get the meds request within a month so they would be technically expecting it anyways, now would they see it was the date they sent you the bulk email vs the date your folks went for DMP ( highly unlikely )
Let Delhi process as per their timeline but bottom like is, these are required anyways

How about

Up-front Medical Exams and Forms
(IMM 1017 EFC and Appendix C)

Up-front medical exams are performed when applicants arrive for their immigration medical exam appointment with a completed Appendix C – Medical Instructions form. The Medical Report – Section A (IMM 1017 EFC) form is used for up-front medical exams. DMPs should have a supply of IMM 1017 EFC forms on hand. To order forms, see the instructions in the table above.

As noted earlier, a detailed guide to the completion of the Medical Report forms for Canadian immigration is Appendix II.

There is new procedure for Medicals now. Form 1017 will not be sent to applicants. Up front medical exams are for spousal sponsorship only

4.3.2 Upfront Medicals (UFMs)
UFM examinations are performed when clients report to a panel physician for their IME before a visa application has been submitted to CIC. In Parental sponsorship cases, applications have already been submitted.

I agree that it may speed up the process but what if the file does not move forward for processing say for several months then there is a chance that Medicals will Expire before a decision is made.

I agree. Don't voluntarily reduce the time your medical is valid in case you don't get the request for a while.

How many cases are out there with 2007 applications and who have submitted passports and medicals in late OCT 2012 or early NOV 2012 with no visa so far
This is very frustrating and puzzling to see 2008 applicants getting visa while 2007 applicants wait.
With no offence to those 2008 applicants
