i think that CPP-O starts with medicals and then starts background check when medicals are passed... and i have a feeling that LVOs start background check before medicals...

I read somewhere it depends on the officer. Some officers start background checks after requesting passports.
I think that is why sometimes there is a huge delay to issue visas after ppt request. Just my guess.

i believe that you have to wait for the forms... but you can try to go to a doctor with the letter if you know your parents UCIs - may be he agrees to do medicals without the forms?

I was hoping to get notes to figure it out but it has been over a month again and nothing still... (I seem to be unlucky when in comes to atip requests )

An update from me: looks like our file is back to LVO (as I wrote earlier it was sent to LVO initially, then I was told several times by agent that it was in transfer to CPP-O and then at CPP-O).
I got an email yesterday with the scan of the letter they mailed to us with medical request and police certificate request. The email did not include the forms for medical but said they mailed it to us (and sent a emailed letter scan to let us know).

So it seems that they do move soem cases back and forth - not sure why...

Do I understand correctly that we can not do medicals until we get the mailed forms?
I hope they actually mailed them as the mailing address on application is my Canadian address (I am a rep and my parents are currently visiting here in canada)...The letter header has my dad's name and my mailing adddress (which is correct) so hopefully they mailed to that one (the only thing is that it may take a while to get here from my parents home country LVO)

Another issue is that I already mailed teh police certificates a while ago to the LVO (without the request as I figured they woudl expire anyway potentially). However, they never confirmed to me if they received and accepted them (I emailed but they gave me a generic answer that if we did not request something you should not have emailed and they could be lost - but the wording clearly suggested that they did not actually check if they indeed got lost).

By the way, my parents' application ecas status actually changed to in process saying that they started processing the application on August 31, 2012...Looks like LVOs may follow a different sequence of status updates... (we have not done medical yet, waiting for the mailed forms as per tehir email)

I did the same and Canada Post doesnt show that its reached, so they are tracking it but what do they mean get lost/ u mail it with file # etc, so they can just file it

What you gonna do for the PCC? since they are asking it again

THe way they are asking as more of a generic template of what they request (not possible to tell if they may have it already). I am really struggling what to do It would cost me extra time (a month or even 2 ) plus almost 150 or so per person to get it though the home coutry consulate for my parents as they are here in Canada now visiting for several months at least (since there is no consulate in our city they requre several things notarised plus application cost..)
I was hoping to have gcms notes by that time but it has been a bit over a month since my atip request and still nothing...
I will probably try to email the LVO once again and ask if they have my PCCs on file already by any chance (they may ignore my question again though )

And yes, canada post only shows when item left canada but does not track beyond that...
As for the LVO earlier reply, their reply was really stupid. I did mail it with the file # but they told me that if you do not provide the file # then we woudl not be able to match any unsolicited documents! And my email and mail had file # mentioned more than once (so it feels like they just replied in general without checking at all - just wanted to deal with my email quickly)

By the way, GCMS note experts: would i be able to see from the notes whether police certificates were received in the mail and filed in my file?

Your LVO is ND right? you can get PCC fast from the consulate - what else do you need?

Email reply will take a while, and GCMS does have PCC section so that might be able to tell, btw doesnt atip show PCC option?

not sure... when i ordered a physical copy i saw a copy of the police certificates that i sent to CPP-O so i know for sure that they received it... but there was nothing in electronic notes that confirmed that they received it...

Just two suggestions :
- send your letter not only registered but also with confirmation of receipt: you will receive a stub carrying the reception date and the recipient's signature (or the stamp of Canadian Embassy in your home country)

-try to reach the site of your Home Country National Postal Service (the equivalent of Canada Post) and look for the tracking # (that one issued by Canada Post) : to my biggest surprise, not only that I found the confirmation of receipt in real time, but also the statuses of the sending were more numerous & specific.

VFS is everywhere, infact Indian consulate in Canada also does work through VFS

No, its only for Indian Passports to Indian Consulate.

Anik , I requested the notes and got it. Yes, you will be able to see If they received pcc or not. Other than that, our notes were not helpful. they did not start security etc yet.
