Rash,

Provincial health care is not government assistance unless they applied for assistance on medication etc. Even then, it differs from province to province and I'd check with your provincial medical insurance. Here in BC, newcomers aren't eligible for provincial medical insurance until they have lived in the province for at least 6 months.

But, if your parents are already in Canada, have applied for PR and passed the first stage (i.e awaiting final background check), then they may be eligible for medical insurance under "Applicant for permanent resident". Again, that's in BC only. So, it's not quite cut-and-dried as you described. It depends on province your parents are in and etc..
Yes my parents are PR now and living in Alberta , so I assume i can get their health cards done.

Hi Yulia.

ECAS is showing "decision made" on sponsorship application status. Please update line 141, user name curious205 to DM 6 Nov 2018.

MyCiC has not been updated to reflect ECAS, and I have not received any email either.

Finally, things are progressing!

Don't assume stuff Rash. All you need to do is call Alberta AHCIP and find out the eligibility or go online and read the eligibility criteria. Anyway, a quick search on AHCIP produces the following link:
http://www.health.alberta.ca/AHCIP/registration-requirements.html

Read the stuff under "Eligible residents". According to the eligibility criteria set by AHCIP, your parents would be eligible for AHCIP if they have lived in Alberta for at least 183 days in 12 months period. Remember, Google is "Free" and you can use it to find almost any information without having to ask someone else.

Thanks once again. Any tips/guidelines for advance preparations to be able to sponsor my parents as soon as 2019 application open?
Vermas,

LICO amount shown on the table already includes 30%. You do not need to add 30% more. Once CIC announces the new LICO for 2018/19, that amount is the final amount.

You only need to "meet" the income requirement, although it does not hurt to exceed LICO. Since you do not know if you are going be selected in the draw, there's not much you can do to prepare. But, it's probably a good idea to download all the application forms, read and fill them out so you know what you need to do ahead of time in case you were selected. That way, you know what documents are required and which forms need to be filled out etc.

Application forms are available here https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-5772-application-sponsor-parents-grandparents.html#income

Scroll down to "Step 2" to see the application forms.

I hope that helps!

Hi, Did you had to upload the medicals? My parents did receive the e-medical tracking sheet from the doctor but don't see any options in ecas(GCKey) to upload any such document. I am sure the doctor would send directly to CIC but not sure if the applicant also has to upload the e-medical tracking sheet.

Hello guys,

I am planning to sponsor my parents and my 18 yr old brother under the family sponsorship program. Due to the income requirement, I can only sponsor 2 people because they look at the last three years of income. Will I be able to sponsor one parent and my brother just to ensure that he gets his PR before he turns 22? Do you think it will raise any question marks if I sponsor one parent but not the other?

Many thanks for any advice
Unfortunately you need to qualify for the whole family.

If they calculate treatment to be with $20K/year, these would still be allowed. Only contagious diseases are grounds for refusing under public health issue. I think because the cap increased from $7k to $20K, many other diseases would not fall under "excessive demands".
Lots of diseases will cost over $20K/year. For seniors things like various forms of dementia, various lung issues like emphysema, etc. COPD, liver disease due to hepatitis or cirrhosis, advanced kidney disease, some forms of diabetes if insulin is involved, cancer, major cardiac issues, and I could go on.
For younger people: genetic diseases, most autoimmune conditions (e.g. crohn's/ulcerative colitis, MS, etc.), some forms of epilepsy, CP, severe visual impairment, cystic fibrosis, severe kidney disease, type 1 diabetes, cardiac issues most likely needing surgery, cancer or history of cancer, HIV with other health issues, uncontrolled psychiatric issues, etc. It is not that hard to get to 20K these days with a few days in hospital or a few trips to the ER, some scans, specialist visits and some medications.

I have one question on the Financial Evaluation in the employment history section where it says family size should I include there the person I am going to sponsor?
