how did u get the updated offer letter? did u ask ur university to provide u that.....it may sound a silly question but i have no idea about it, kindly enlighten me

I emailed and called my university several times and finally got the letter from them.....

Talk to the concerned person in your department and then with the graduate department......

2-Can I go another city and stay there for some time before start of classes ? actually my university is in St. John's but I want to visit family in Calgary before the start of classes .

regarding the first question , i can say YES , u can go early and i guess that once u land there u can travel anywhere within canada. i have doubt about ur last question

[red]My classes were starting in May and I land in February. I voluntarily asked Immigration officer that although my classes are commencing from May but I land in February so I can enjoy my life to fullest before school. So he laughed and gave me some website links, Cheap travel advises, name and address of best club in Toronto and maps. He also asked me to show him the prove of funds to afford my stay for at least 6 months.[/red]

[red]Yes definitely, I suggest you to do not tell Immigration officer that you have family in Canada if you didn't mention in you study permit application CBSA officer has all the details.[/red]

[red]Study permit is issued at POE. Landing in Quebec could get you in trouble. If I were in your shoe I will land to my province and city of destination where my School is or any other city but not in Montreal (Quebec)

not sure but as far as i remember i asked a similar question from an officer at passport office in Pakistan (during renewal of my passport), and he replied that one can even renewed it from abroad
