Especially thinking temp working visa wise. Also online or paper?

We’re wanting to move to Canada in Dec 2022. Just about to put in an outland family visa and having second thoughts:

- 19 months (outside) vs 16 months (Inland) wait times atm

- It looks like you can ONLY apply for a temp working visa on an inland application rather than outland?

My wife is Canadian by birth, I’m British, our child has both nationalities, they are living over here with me.

We want to move to Canada Dec 2022 and ideally I’d be working as soon as possible.

Whats best

a) Orig plan- Outland application in early April 2022, move in Dec 2022 even if I come in on a ETA visa wavier and stay as long as I can?

- Can I apply for temp work visa if I do that?

- Can I switch mid application from outland to inland if not?

b) Wait. Move in Dec 2022 coming in on ETA and then put the application in as soon as we arrive and apply for temp work visa at the same time?

Thanks

Open work permit is only available if you apply inland.

No, you will not qualify for an open work permit if you apply outland and then come to Canada on an ETA.

No, you cannot "switch" from outland to inland. If you apply outland and then decide you want an inland application instead, you have to withdraw the outland application and submit a brand new inland application. Processing times will restart from scratch once the inland application is received.

Thanks.

So I could get booted out if I apply outland now, came to Canada on a eTa in Dec and it still took longer than 6 months I arrived in the Dec?

If I was in Canada on a ETA when it was granted, would I have to go back to the UK/London office or would it be simple enough to finish it off in Canada?

Thanks

You would simply apply to extend your stay from within Canada. No, you would not get "booted".

You could complete the outland process from within Canada. No need to leave.
