Hi Dragoon,

Thanks for your details about your interview and congratulation for your success as I heard from other Vietnamese forum that lot of people are interviewed on Nov and Dec 2013 did not make it. I think we will have less a chance because we are older couple (I am in the late 50 and my wife is 45) and we both have children from previous marriage. You said they questioned you very hard about how you are going to support your family in Canada... so, if your marriage is genuine but they think your family will be a burden in Canada, they will still refuse your application? Also, how you answered when they ask why you did not have a wedding ceremony? I did not have one either but I did write the reason in the application form... Thanks Dragoon, you know how I feel waiting.... you were there not so long ago eh?

Yes, when I was there 2 women got rejected right away. A man was also interviewed, but they told him 5-6 weeks as well. I do not think your age difference is that big. In Vietnam they do have a saying about women marrying older :)
The question about supporting my family was a round about way to see if I knew anything about my wife's land. They probably thought I was hiding the fact or wanted to confirm something. They will not refuse based on being a burden as long as you are not on welfare, that was part of the application.

In my situation my parents did not approve because my wife had previous marriage and has a child. So, I simply told the truth that no one knew about our marriage. Also, I have almost lived my entire life in Canada. I would do a wedding here in Canada, because all my friends and family are here. How long ago did you apply?

Dec 2011.... got a Christmas present (1st interview letter) Dec 24 2012.... looks like one more year of waiting...

You got the interview letter in Dec. 2012, so that likely means interview this Dec. Have you ordered your CAIP notes?

My wife just got her re-med done yesterday. I know she will need to redo her police background check again. But instead of waiting for instruction from Singapore should she get it done soon to save some time?

I would like to know this answer as well. I know it would be best for them to request it first but this can really delay the processing time. :(

Yes, get it done and translated. It is good for a year anyways.

Hi my wife just got an email February 3 2014 from Visa office saying she had and interview on March 3. 2014
my question is that her meds expired and her criminal record, should she redo her medical and her criminal now to save time? Or should she wait for the visa office to ask her to redo it? Also I was wondering after interview do they tell you on the spot that you are approved or do they sometimes? Any tips ? For prep ext..my dad's in Vietnam right now waiting for my wife's interview to finish ext. how long do you think my wife's process time after interview will be until she can come to canada?

Here's a look at my timeline if anyone's is similar ....
