Hi Guys,

My sister who is now my Aunt is my sponsor. Our Grandparents adopted her when she was around 20 because they thought they can take her with their U.S. petition. Petition was not successful. Now shes on her mid 30s. Our Grandparents are now deceased and since she cannot petition my parents (her real parents) the best option is to get me instead (sponsoring other relative) as her nephew

How are you applying for your PR?

Since you say that you are single, it's obviously not by being sponsored by a spouse or common-law partner...which is what THIS forum is typically for.

How old are you? Here is an excerpt of the other relative sponsorship website page:

To use this application, you must be related to your sponsor in one of these ways:
-parent,
-grandparent,
-child adopted outside of Canada or who will be adopted in Canada, or
-brother, sister, nephew, niece or grandchild who is orphaned, under 18 years of age, and not married or in a common-law relationship.

If you're not meeting those conditions, she cant sponsor you as nephew.
And you're not filling the right forms I think.

Since his (and her) parents are still living, and he is in fact really her brother, this could be a problem with her sponsoring him.

To say that this is rather complicated is like calling Moby Dick a minnow, IMHO.

but I think that would not be possible now. There should be atleast a way for her to get a family member or relative she can be with.

I guess they wouldn't know she got adopted unless she reveals it right? What they dont know, wont hurt our chances Lol

Hi, I didn't see your post earlier. I think Ponga has a point. My Sister/Aunt also told me about it before.

Which forms should I be filling up then? Thanks for posting

Yes but if they find out, and they will, she will be accused of misrepresentation and applicant gets denied plus jeopardize all future sponsorships.
First of all, you're filing the wrong forms. Those you are referring to are for spouse and common-law sponsorships. The right ones are here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/famcls.asp
Look for the Manila, Philippines guide and checklist.
Secondly, the CIC website states:

You cannot sponsor other relatives, such as brothers and sisters over 18, or adult children who support themselves financially. If they apply to immigrate under the Skilled Worker Class, they may get extra points for having a relative in Canada.

So if you are over 18, I think she cant sponsor you either as brother or nephew. And be aware that there is a 5000 Canadawide limit per year on the parents, other relatives sponsorships. The counter resets January 1st, usually in 2 weeks the places are filled already.
Your case is pretty complicated, maybe you should consult a lawyer.

I think it would be better if she consult a lawyer in Canada as he/she may be more aware of the regulations and find ways so your sister can sponsor one of her family members, either you or your parents.
Its way more complicated and waiting times are longer for parents-relatives than spousal sponsorships.
