I'm actually surprised I can still get involved in this forum quite regularly with my full-time work. I am guessing most of the active members here are on a visitor's visa so bored hanging out at home. Anyway, you have all the time to enjoy life without having to work.

In a nutshell: I am Canadian, partner is Mexican

Application filed April 2009
Interview required Feb 2010 denied (not genuine)
filed Appeal in Toronto April 2010
Hearing heard: August 2012 (28 months)
Appeal allowed (judge reversed decision)

sent back to Mex city for some reason and now to Ottawa. Just got off the phone with MP (member of Parliament) basically telling me nothing new. "count on up to another year" (that will make it 5 years)

Dont let my situation be your guide. Most applications are finished in a timely fashion.

I have good days and bad days......this forum has been a big help. It is a great feeling when I know I am helping others, but in all honesty....I am wreck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just took a nap (yep, at home most of the time), and I literally DREAMED about a Reese's peanut butter cup.

Just got a lovely text from my boyfriend saying he "found a weird criminal-like photo of me in his wallet" ( when I got my immigration photo's done, the guy gave me a couple extra! So I gave my boyfriend one). Now.. mind you, not the greatest photo of me.. No smile whatsoever because I wasn't sure if you are allowed to!! After he texted that he goes, "I'm gonna have to report this to immigration!"

Does anyone else's boy/girlfriend or husband/wife joke about reporting stuff to immigration or calling them to drop your file

It's the opposite in our home, most of the time. I joke about the fact that he's totally responsible for me. AOR was Oct 23...so two days BEFORE they made the change about having to live with your spouse/partner for two years after you get PR. I tell him I'm just waiting for my PR, so I can run away and live off welfare while he pays! Then he gets me back, by asking how that's any different than now. But picking on each other is just our way. It's done with love!

(And just because I *AM* super paranoid, I must give a disclaimer: to CIC, if you're watching, I do NOT plan to draw upon social programs, not upon receipt of PR, not ever. If something happens to my darling Canadian, I'm heading right back to the 'States, where I can get a job and be fluent in the language and feel like I live like a grown up again.)

I laugh and joke because that's how my family has always dealt with stress. I'm really a bundle of nerves, because I've made some stupid mistakes. We got our CSQ today (Certificat de Sélection du Québec), which means that after CIC receives it, the evaluation of the hubby as my sponsor is done. Then they'll look at ME. And I don't have my police certificate yet. I'm just this side of terrified, but the request is in the mail to the FBI, and now all I can do is hurry up and wait. I'm not sure if it's better or worse that my husband just DOES. NOT. STRESS. "I'm sure it will be fine." Wish that made two of us.
