WTF !!
that's really scary for me at least. I've not been in touch with any of my managers ( not even the current manager as I work in a different location ).
I hope you get a nomination soon and that yours will be the only case where they called manager ! ( and not other applicants ) :)

It is a sheer stupidity to call a manager. There can be personal issues, management issues, policies issues and fear of loosing employee, how can they believe their words? Ref. letter is official and as per norms of the company. Many managers are not allowed to speak and give details on phones. Strange behaviour from OINP...

just figured out that the applicant may have given their manager's letter as a reference as maybe their company might've not given them one.
in this case, it makes sense to call up the manager to verify if whatever they've written is true or not.
just a thought.

May be. OINP themselves not giving any kind of reliable answers to their applicants on phone call and 99% of time they don't pick up the call. They are expecting others to provide full & reliable details of their employees on phone call for critical decision. What a monopoly and what an irony! :).

May be new officers have pressure to prove their selves and demonstrate that they are following all norms and checklist. From 19th Sep, it may not be same as it was before :).

Best of luck: All Members

OINP is suppose to verify employment, ref letter; Am I right.
I attached the business card of my Manager along with the reference letter!!!

1. Is OINP going to inform all the applicants who received AoR about the change of status from Analyst to decision phase?
2. Are they going to call, request additional docs for all applicants. I believe only if OINP feels essential they might.

why did you send your manager's business card?

best strategy is just to provide what is asked for, no more no less.

too much of "good thing" is just as bad as falling short.. it makes your application suspicious

This is one instance when they have called the manager. They might come out with many such changes in future. When february applications will be processed they might even call your neighbours and friends :P :P

They will ask questions like

* what is the age of MZASAM
* what time MZASAM go to office and come back :D :D :D
